The Stark Reality

This is the stark reality in my opinion and it is more a total athletic program opinion than just related than just bball. It all starts at the top. I don't see Bodner having an athletic department focus as he has so many other problems to bring UM back academically. And that is perfectly reasonable. Moving down, if it isn't a priority for Bodner why should it be a priority for Haslem, given it appears his U-State thing really didn't work out. Why should he want to deal with an a hole d bag like Hauck or a pretty well liked Decuire even though they are producing at a mid-big sky level. But neither one is a "Terrific" coach as one poster puts it or they, as well as their assistants, would have other job offers. And lets face it, maybe that is the new reality with UM athletics. I don't get into the "big bro - little bro" BS but it is pretty obvious where the power lies. And Cruzado, who has built an acedemic powerhouse can have the luxury or insuring that the athletic departmernt is equally regarded. Based on many posters on egriz, they have accepted a upper mid-level role for UM athletics in the BSC. I truly don't understand why people like/love coaches but a lot of you do. To me they are just employees who either produce or should be gone. But many seem to have an affinity for a certain coach. Until someone at the top demands accoutabilty then I think we will all have to accept that a pinch above mediorcraty, like kind of good but not really, is the new model for UM athletics.

For me personally, I like Decuire, and he had some years where evey game was a treat to watch. Its clear that something in the program has slipped. The problem I see of getting rid of the employee Decuire is that I don't trust the current AD or department to hire someone better, which is a sentiment of your post. Bodnar should absolutely be focusing on the UofM's academics, but it seems like Haslam is just running through the motions at this time.

What, specifically, should-could Haslam do better? Name some things.

Improve on one or all the programs? UofM seems to be mediocre in everything athletic right now. Students have been complaining about ticketing for years. UofM had 15 Ncaa violations in 2021-22, most of them recruiting. The football programs black hole of media availability. Why can't fans buy the jerseys the team actually wears? What happened to the food at football games?

Top programs will improve next season. They are not mediocre, especially football. What are students complaining about? Hoops tiks are free. Football tiks are $5, or free. What were the ncaa violations? Never heard of them. No penalties? I think football media is fine. Food is fine in Canyon Club. What used to be better with food at football?

New nickname for hoops….Detective Joe Friday.

The rapid fire response. The generational dissonance.

I don't get bothered by your (sometimes over) optimism on here like others, and most of these are small inconveniences, but here's the link to the violations:

Tickets are difficult to obtain and confusing. When I was there 2013 - 2018 there was a 60% chance I would check out and then find out I never had them. I still here from students that this is going on today.

Canyon Club is not my area of expertise lol, but I remember there were a lot more food options in game in the past than last year. Anyone know what happened to the Viking stand?

I'll hold my judgement on the football team being mediocre. I know losing Johnson for those games was huge, but the difference between the Griz and the dsu's of the world seems to be apparent. Maybe that doesn't make them mediocre but it definitely doesn't make them championship ready.

Thanks for the info. I’m good with that. Didn’t know about student tik issues. Must have forgotten about the little ncaa issues.
