Downwith, what do you think would happen if the GSA made every seat in the stadium a GSA seat and added a fee to each one? Would there be a total isht storm or just a minor blow up?

I already pay a GSA fee but I am curious to see what others think.
In a small state like Montana, whose universities are already cutting back, it is next to criminal to pay the football coach more than a good professor...

Name me a professor that does not take a day off from mid-August to mid-December and put's in 10 to 14 hour days. Then outside the season still works more hours per day than said professor either with recruiting trips, spring ball, ect. ect.

Also, unfortunately, a university does not try to pay professors for performance. The tenure system enables a high porportion of professors past their prime to cruise and good faculty remain underrewarded in that system, so it is not a good comparison. There are very good metrics for the performance of a head football coach. And bad ones are not protected by tenure.

the university comes first, for most of us...the athletic program is just another facet...I know I am in a minute number of fans who feel the Coach should never make more than a Dept Head or tenured professor...He can be reimbursed or compensated for travel, recruiting trips, etc..but as salary...he is a dept. head.....no more, no less.....I understand your position, but I would rather UM maintain respect academically AND have a national championship team...basketball, too....

Just my opinion but I would rather make $200,000 a year and live in Montana than 3 M a year and live in Indiana or Michigan or Ohio or California. Like I said, just my opinion.

Of course, some people might choose to live in Indiana, Michigan or California for three years, make $9 million, and then move back to Montana.

Find a professor that makes the school as much money as the head coach does. I guarantee there are a boatload of coaches out there that make more money than the professors at the same school.

Hey, why not do what I do...live where I want, AND have a place in Montana...I agree about Ohio....but California is damn fabulous...

Jeezus, before I looked at the date it was posted, I actually thought ronbo was back. Granted, it was last night around 9:00 so my maroon-colored glasses were eggnog & Christian Bros-soaked. What the hell happened to our resident bull market maven anyway?
