The Real Difference.........

There is a huge difference in "hyperbolic positivity" and "cautious concern". I guess striving for a middle viewpoint between the two is optimal. I know that I fall into the latter category, which bothers some of you. But I'm sure you'll agree that there is also a group of posters who belong to the first group, and seem to be incapable of EVER moving towards the middle. I guess I wear the cautious concern hat to counteract the group of fans whom I believe can never criticize Bobby, or really any aspect of things, such as getting to the NC game because of events which occur once every 20 years or so, rather than winning by dominating an opponent at home in a convincing manner.

In addition, I sometimes give credit to the Bobcats when warranted. It's because I do not allow our rivalry with MSU to cloud my vision on football issues. I can never understand the abject HATRED that some on here have for our in-state rival. It goes way beyond reason, in my opinion. To place such importance on a freaking annual football game as a life-changing event seems a bit radical.

As I have stated repeatedly, I am here to talk football...... the good, the bad, the ugly, and to give props to our opponents when justified. I find it sad that I am labeled a "closet Bobcat fan" or a "Bobby hater" by some. I am NOT a Bobcat fan, nor do I HATE Bobby Hauck. My concerns about Bobby's coaching are strictly based on results, and not personal in nature. Some of you think his results are great, others of us expect more. Should be easy to digest.

There was a Miami Dolphins RB who was being interviewed after the Dolphins won the Super Bowl. The talking head asked him " how do you feel about winning the game-of-the-century"? The player then answered " if it's the game-of-the-century, why do they play it again next season?"
Are you even from Montana?

RTD comes up a lot in this conversation. I get that it is a controversial term. My argument has always been that we should look at the trajectory, but I think it is important to define what it means.

By definition, "Return To Dominance" would inherently mean "returning" to where we were at when Hauck left. People often say "he said this," and yes, he did stake his flag on a big and boisterous claim. At the time, he did define it as returning to where we were at when he left. This last season we had was practically a mirror image of the 09 season in some ways. Yes, it needs to continue and not fall off. But I take that to mean being a consistent team in the semis, and competing for a national title.

I still say the trajectory has been on point other than the outlier of the year LJ got hurt. But we can't now say that "RTD" means winning championships only, or it would not be a "return" to where we were at under Hauck previously. And trust me, nobody lays awake in bed at night pissed off about his NC losses than Bobby Hauck does. We are fans with other lives. This is his life's work and legacy. Trust me, he isn't happy with losing in the NC either.

Trying to pretend like any of thirds posts have anything to do with valid football conversation would be like trying to buy waterfront property in the Sahara. How many mole hills do we have to let him stand on before the mods just start locking his threads that are nothing but the equivalent of a monkey flinging poo?

I've asked this questions probably 12 times on 12 different posts; assuming you are here to talk football.

If the 3-3-5 is so bad, how did we get to a NC, when you yourself said our D was one of our strengths? If every year our o-line is sub par, how much would we have won the NC by with a decent O-line? Why do we continue to employ Coach Hauck when we have as you have said, every advantage in the FCS and could literally employ any other coach?

Are you even from Montana?
He grew up in Ohio. Went to UM. Lives mostly in AZ. Comes to MT in summers, as wife's family apparently has a place here. Doesn't stay for much of fall. This is what he's posted over the years. I think I believe these things, but not much else.

You make some good points, but I find it comical that you will not admit that there several posters who go into attack mode on everything that I post. And, I don't feel the need to "defend" my position with "facts'. Opinions are like butt holes...... everybody has one. Opinions don't require proof, because they are opinions.

As an example, just because I think Bobby Hauck is only a very average coach, who has shown no ability to win a NC after four tries, two of which we were favored to win, I get assaulted and asked to provide facts to support that opinion. What facts could I provide? I provide a fact about 0-4, and then immediately a poster challenges me to provide the name of a coach who has taken his team to the NC four times. That is totally irrelevant to my opinion, since just GETTING THERE is not the basis for being 0-4. I have stated many times that I expect at least one national championship during his many years of coaching, since we enjoy the biggest recruiting advantages of any team in FCS. Posters even try to argue that fact, which to me is indisputable. Just read the comments from the three new portal players on why they chose Montana, even over FBS schools, just prove my point. And, I have friends from other Big Sky schools like Sac State, Weber, and SDSU living in my neighborhood, and they give me sh_t all of the time about never winning a NC with the huge advantages we enjoy over their teams. They love to rub it in. So, it seems to be a common opinion among our competitors that we enjoy huge advantages, yet posters will argue that point over and over again. I like living in reality, and not allowing being a fan jade my thoughts.
So the point you're making is that BH is one of the top 2-3 coaches in rhe nation, but struggles in NC games.

Okay, that might be the most accurate post you've ever made. Although as I showed, it could be stated with 12 words rather than 12 paragraphs.

I believe the air has been cleared. I would say that was an honest assessment of the problem(s). What changes will come of it remains to be seen. My high hopes are tempered by reality. If all involved put forth a honest effort, this could work.
What just happened? I don't read every post by everybody. Thirdandgone?
