Well, we have JJ back soooo … I know it wont happen but my belief is the offense was always at its best when in the spread ALONG with the HURRY UP. In my view JJ is more comfortable with this approach and it isn’t like we didn’t use it at times this year … though it was pretty much only when we were coming from quite a bit behind. He gets into a good rhythm when in the hurry up and seems like hes quicker with his check downs. In the pro set JJ seems to take longer to find his receivers and though the oline had some issues with pass protection it wasn’t always their fault like some of the egriz posters seem to be peddling.

So we don't have anyone on staff that understands the no huddle spread? How was it then that we were able to use it this year? OK, then let JJ teach whomever ... that works for me.

Shot gun 4 or 5 receiver sets setting up the run by passing the ball 85% of the time.

That would take Canada and Van out of the game pretty much completely

Swing passes and screens like the pass "that never happened" in the CC game last weekend, would keep them involved.
Honestly the offense Pflu was running would have been ideal for current personnel. Neither van or Canada are bruising, powerful backs that pick up 5 yards after contact while dragging defenders with them like Bauman or the kid at PSU. They're quick shifty backs ala Lamichael James when he was at Oregon. He excelled in catching short passes and using his quickness and vision to create big gains.

I want to see at least one QB draw next year. That play was a huge part of our run to the title with Dickenson way back when and is still used at all levels. 3rd and 6 QB draw vs. third and 6 long underthrown pass......I'll take a QB draw or two.

good point. I saw at least two occasions during the CC game that a Qb draw could have been huge.

I don't think Johnson was all that mobile after the first half. Looked like his left leg bothered him.

Yeah, I definitely noticed him favoring one of his legs after a sack or a knock-down.

Hobbling pretty good a few times, looked like Tiny Tim trying to get to the dinner table (Christmas spirit reference).

I like the spread offense, too. I think our O Line pass blocks well. Our wide receivers would have to block better, but that shouldn't be a problem.
But switch to the spread now and you're on your third offense in three years, not to mention that the coaching staff isn't big on spread experience.

Don't you think that would waste the good two running backs we have? I think we should run and pass about half and half. USE THE BIG BOYS UP FRONT!

The big boys up front were the weakest part of the offense this year.

You can still have a running game out of the spread. Eastern does. East Illinois did. If you go back and look at the 1995 championship game against Marshall, UM sputters for a bit as Marshall drops 7 guys into pass coverage with one backer spying Dave and a 3 man front. Dave goes under center keeps it or hands it off a few times and the Griz are back in business.

Oregon has a great running game most seasons. :thumb:

We will have a Pro Style offense as long as this staff is here. They don't have the experience to coordinate a spread offense. As crummy as it was losing Pflu, you guys need to get over it. We won't have that offense in a long time if ever.
