The NFL is going the way of the cigarette.....soon it will only be available in electronic format as lawsuits and safety concerns overtake it. The NHL, NCAA, and NBA will all follow by the end of the century . Boxing is already gone, and MMF is most certainly going to be become like pro wrestling to survive.

One hundred years from now....sport will be watching the grass grow.

You may not too far off there. :thumb:

And I didn't mention MLB because its already sort of like watching the grass grow.

That you can't understand the nuances that are baseball doesn't make you stupid, but making a generalization like you have here proves it.

I don't get it.

Ray rice admits to hitting his wife in the face= 2 game subspension.

Race rice video showing hitting his wife in the face= indefinite nfl ban.

Can someone explain?

Well, my small post won't answer the question..but here is my best angle.
The NFL is a non-profit.
Yet, the commissioner makes $44M per year.
Their most valuable asset is their logo...a.k.a "The Shield".
What generates the most revenue for owners...TV money.
I believe the NFL had the video long before but had hoped to keep it quiet as Rice was viewed as an NFL "asset", a "good" guy, if you will.
NFL doesn't care about "small quells", 2 game suspension.
Public outrage after everyone needed the video to confirm suspicion.
Further public outrage after video released..
The Shield starts the "spin cycle". Mostly, to protect owners and advertisers.
As a cruise ship would....dump the "trash" into the sea.
Pressure Ravens to release RR, followed by immediate Shield release of "immediate suspension", to look innocent.

...Just some facts...plus my :twocents:

...which is why i still prefer college football to this day. Not that it doesn't have it's own dust...but, for another day.

You are a flipping idiot . The commish makes 14 mill/per year at present, not disagreeing that is an overpay but histrionics of this sort makes you appear stupid.

I believe that last year with bonused he made 44.2 million which included a 9.1 million deferred pension. At least that is what this link says. Don't think he is a "flipping idiot."

What these penalty calls are going to induce is DB's hitting below the waist again and WR's ending up with broken knees and never playing again...OR... let's just get the flag belts out so the pussyfication of america can continue and play flag football. After all, Gay marriage is legal. Hell I am so glad I retired from the military when I did, gays used to not be allowed, then they were tollerated and then they were allowed, I am glad I got out before gay became mandatory! What is this country coming too?

Wish you had just kept this to football. It does seem like the sport in on the verge of being a flag football league. In this day and age, anyone who plays football should be well aware of the risk and what kind of damage can result. If I had the talent to play in the NFL, I would have, despite the risks. More players need to have the foresight of Robert Smith and Barry Sanders, each left the game early. Years later, I now 100% respect their decisions, and understand their reasoning.

As for the Gays and the military, my outlook is, "to each is their own". I will respect other believes, lifestyles, etc, as long as those things are not shoved down my throat, and my believes are mutually respected. I know of a gay soldier who saved several of his fellow soldiers due to thinking properly, courage, and staying calm under pressure. Had it not been for that soldier, there would have been several more soldiers lost. Tell me those soldiers and their families are not thankful for that soldier. I doubt they were thinking, "Let me die, I am not going to be saved by a gay." Sexual orientation makes no difference at any job or any career. I could really care less what anyone does away from work.

Well said mtgrizrule, well said. :thumb: :thumb:

Nothing like going full retard.

I don't think it's "gays" that are ruining this country, just FYI. :? :?

As a currently serving Soldier with 22 years under my belt I can only say I am also glad reinell30 got out of the military when he did. This is a complete non-issue across the breadth of our services.

This is unbridled PC. If the goal is to kill the cash cow, they are going about it the right way. The video showed her punching him, then he counter punched. She doesn't pack the punch he has.

Baseball is far and away my favorite sport.....the fact that you can't get the joke doesn't make you stupid, but the assumption that you made - proves it.

Did anyone just see the Raven's drive against the Steelers? Two solid shoulder hits by the Steeler DBs IMO but both were called as penalties. Jack Tatum would be locked up in today's
NFL.....

The worst part about is that Phil Simms and Jim Nantz and CBS are in collusion. They didn't even bother to question the call. I am guessing the NFL has told the networks that cover the sport that if they go over the top with questioning calls, they may not get the next contract is up.

THIS.

I'm a Steelers fan and felt that I could forgive the first call. But not the second. They clearly tackled the way they understand the rule. And to have Nance and Eliason chiming in the way they did was total horseisht. A defender can't make adjustments when a guy's body is moving as they tackle. They can only go with the league-approved approach to tackling. And they did that. Ridiculous calls. Seattle is going to face the same problem. Hell, every defense is going to face it.But those with really aggressive backfields are going to be flummoxed by the calls.\

I want to add that even without those calls, the Steelers looked like crap last night. I'm so over the Todd Haley era. And Ben. Time for those two guys to go. Ben is inaccurate. And becoming immobile. I hope they draft the future QB next season and get rid of Haley. They looked like total crap. And the defense is just getting old. I love Troy, but he's lost more than a step. And there was ZERO pass rush last night.. Just awful.

if a 16 year old girl punched you, would you punch her back? that's probably the equivalent to this case. i am, of course, assuming you are much bigger and stronger than a 16 year old girl, which might be a stretch.

In this day and age, isn't it amazing how a topic about the NFL can be derailed by a topic of homosexuals? I have no problem with homosexuals. I am just tired of hearing about them. Nobody talked about my brother in arms who was killed in Iraq and several others who were killed in Afghanistan. The only thing the news could report was gay marriage becoming law in this state or that. (issue, no I don't think so) I do not care! I love my brothers in arms and THEY, HAVE EARNED USA RESPECT! STRAIGHT OR GAY! If people do not wish to respect them, so beit.
NFL will eventually belong to the huggers of this country as well, the game we love will change...Soldiergriz, protect your brothers, they are your life!
32 years of service to this country, I believe I can say what I like, I earned it!

(TOPIC) I have talked to several WR's in the NFL who told me they would welcome a concussion any day over a torn ACL or a broken leg. Sometimes all rules are not the best thing.

Information still coming in...but apparently hitting the child with a "switch". No, not being racist..that's the report.

WCCO Sports Radio 610 in Minneapolis -
According to police reports, the child, however, had a slightly different story, telling authorities that “Daddy Peterson hit me on my face.” The child also expressed worry that Peterson would punch him in the face if the child reported the incident to authorities. He also said that he had been hit by a belt and that “there are a lot of belts in Daddy's closet.” He added that Peterson put leaves in his mouth when he was being hit with the switch while his pants were down. The child told his mother that Peterson “likes belts and switches” and “has a whooping room.”
wtf?
