Gosh I would hate to work for the company you ran or supposedly still run.....the employees would always be scared and that's no way to run a company, or a University, in my mind. If employees are scared, you won't get far, as they will never buy into your vision, long term, for the company and that's sad.....
A university works the same way - a strategic vision needs to fit the people you have on the bus and you just can't drive the bus over people to get there. You need to get people on the bus with you....
You will NEVER convince me that Pflu and O'Day were nothing other than the scapegoats, you just won't. Few people in the UM believed in the UM less than those two, so stop trying...

I am dumb as I don't get the words lack of leadership? Could one blowing explain why Pflugrad got fired for lack of?????????
Guess # 1. Players out of control because of the rape charges that ran over and over in the press?
2. How many players were out of control?
3. Did Pflugrad tell players this was OK? Or did he chew some butts? Preach right and wrong ?
4. Were the players drinking and having sex with Pflugrad's knowledge?
5. Did Pflugrad let the players run wild after practice and all their remaing time?
6. Was it true that O'Day and Pflugrad drank alcohol with the players many times?
7. Did Engstrom tell O'Day and Pflugrad to straighten out those kids months, weeks ago?
On and on the BS goes.
Tomorrow we will hear some more information from the president through one of his prof. reps. Until then the valid questions remain and my guess is we won't get many of the facts anytime soon......

I do AZ and that is probably what is so hard about this for me. Believe it or not, I can somewhat see, and that is a very small 'somewhat', why all this happened. Like you have said, I still feel the BS shouldn't stop at O'Day and Pflu, but I can't help but feel with the BOR has said, it's going to. And I think that is just wrong. Leadership starts at the top and can't just be dealt from the top. Championships, as well as all the crap, start at the top, and it just doesn't end there, and I just can't stand the bs surrounding all of this......

I sleep just fine at night, HI. I have numerous employees who apparently think enough of me to have worked for me at multiple organizations. We took over a company that lost $30 million in '10 and we made $7 million in '11. Not too shabby for people who won't buy into a long-term vision of a company I lead...
One final comment: noone is trying to convince you that Pflu and O'Day weren't scapegoats. But, that's the nature of the beast in the coaching/AD industry. Have you ever heard the expression "coaches are hired to be fired"? Apparently neither had O'Day....

Well, both Coach Pflu and AD O'Day are gone and we need to move on! We all need to support the student/athletes to help them succeed. The rest of this shit is political, and the last thing these kids need is this crap. Pointing fingers doesn't matter(but it will never stop), but at least stop putting your stupid, narrow minded, verbose arguments above the futures of these young athletes. The shit that comes out in some of these posts are sickening! I have a five year old who loves the Griz, the Maulers, the Lady Griz, etc...but when I see the rabid sports fan and the lack of care for the young athletes, I'm absolutely disgusted! He wants to be a Griz, but sometimes I wonder why!

Rocky you are right - I too have young children that absolutely idolize the Griz and all this crap saddens me... I just wish none of this had happened, but I also wish none of the shit jappened our 'beloved' players did to the coaches - and that's how I look at it - the players did this to the coaches and the AD, and that is sad.
I will continue to tell my children to be Griz fans, if for no other reason, than to support the two that are no longer there!! Gives me yet another reason to teach my children to be good and decent citizens, as you never know who your actions might hurt.....

It's obviously no secret that AZ and I have had our issues, but he's right when it comes to this,... all universities deal with this crap and it's just how the admin. deals with it that determines the winners and losers. AZ, along with me, are NO fans of the current admin, and I truly hope AZ I'm not putting words in your mouth, but the next three months or so are absolutely PIVOTAL for our future and I truly hope Engstrom is NOT part of it :shock: ......
