We actually have 11 O-linemen and now 12 with the addition of Reese. We're "deeper" at that spot because a good sized chunk of our offensive line are sophomores or younger:
Incoming Freshman
David Reese, 6-7, 270
RS Frosh
Cameron Rokich, 6-5, 245
Sophomores
Clint LaRowe, 6-5, 275
Max Kelly, 6-7, 274
Devon Deitrich, 6-4, 270
McCauley Todd, 6-7, 295
Ben Weyer, 6-4, 270
Juniors
John Schmaing, 6-7, 291
Samson Kalekini, 6-5, 280
Seniors
Trevor Poole, 6-5, 290
Jordan Hines, 6-4, 291
Logan Hines, 6-4, 290
Okay for comparison go back to the 2011 roster. We had 18 O lineman on that roster and 6 of them weighed in at over 300 pounds or better (Burton, Oppenrud, Kistler, Poehls, Sabin and Hendricksen) and that is not even counting the Hines brothers who were listed at 310 and 315 but are now listed at 290. Compare that roster to the one above. We were deep then, not now, not even close. Not sure how MD thinks he is going to do his pro style running game with 21 receivers and no offensive lineman that weigh over 300. I guess that is my main point.
Size is very important on the OL, but wingspan and footquickness trumps weight. The spare tires that Poehls and Kistler were carrying contributed little.reinell30 said:I too prefr bigger O-linemen, however, did you notice last season for the most part, those huge linemen over 300 couldn't block the smaller, more agile defensive players? I think 290 and mobile is better than 335 and slow, especially for pro-style offense where you depend on the QB to stay in the pocket.84GRIZ said:Okay for comparison go back to the 2011 roster. Guys get tired running that far.
We should sign 21 more.

And play it well. I was very impressed with Evan Epperly this football season, on defense and offense... and in basketball the past couple years.
He was easily one of the very best athletes in Montana this year.
Uhhhh we do???? :?BigPawzSharpClawz said:mtgrizfankb said:Vis and Rodgers are going to push for playing time this year. Mick actually wants to use more 4 wr sets
Mick wants to what? Who you kidding? This is a play action scheme offense as far a passing game goes right now. Which is fine but you can use the pass to set up the run to. Which still gives you the chance to use your play action.
Use Henderson in the slot more - you just cant double a slot without paying for it big - along with Naccarato & Van. Hendu & Jones outside in a more Bill Walsh style mid range passing game.
Time for Saylor to officially join Pierson, Harper and crew as the TE that he is. We got some good looking TE kids on the roster to.Walcott, Nacarrato, Haynes & Rodgers round out on hell of a receiving corp as long as everyone stays healthy.
Use this group along with throwing the ball to our backs when they not running it.
Damn good if I say so myself. Which I do. Damn good!
