The Griz in Greeley

The Greeley experience reminds me of a game day experience in "Old" Dornblaser (yes, this vignette proves without a doubt that Tip is truly older than dirt) when "crowds" were so dismal you could pick out attendees sitting on the other side. A drunken frat brother in the student section was called out on the PA system by the Dean of Boys/Men, Tom Monahan, a large(ly) untalented ex-Griz player from Noo Yawk seated across the way in the press box... "MIKE SWEENEY, REPORT TO MY OFFICE FIRST THING MONDAY MORNING!" We enjoyed no anonymity raising hell back in the day...
The real Dornblaser, east of Main Hall, was a quaint old devil, even though the teams then resembled UNC. The excellent cinder track hosted the state Interscholastic track meet, but separated the field from the stands. In that case it was good, because glass gallon jugs of wine could be seen in the stands. The disaster substitute "Dornblaser" south of campus was a learning process that off-campus stadiums rarely work (CSU, UMass, PSU, etc.).

The only folks who attend games in UNC's quaint little Nottingham Field are a few of the friends and family who remain immune to the Class C high school atmosphere. If there is a game day experience antithetical to a Wa-Griz Saturday this is it...
In more ways than one; beer is available in the concessions. Probably 3.2....

So would it be better to stay in Greely or Ft. Collins, as opposed to staying in Denver North? Where would the rest of Griz nation be holing up? I think we will also be at Northern Arizona this year.

What about tailgating in Greeley? The wife and I haven't been able to see a Griz game in person since moving to Denver in 2014; thinking of getting a group of people together and introducing them to Griz Nation, Colorado Division.
