Not sure I understand what you are asking…Do I think the Big Sky is as bad as it has ever been, yes. Do I think Fife is way better than McDowel, yes. Our defense lost a lot of great players. Gubner, Edwards, Braxton Hill, Levi Janacaro, Corbin Walker, Cotton….. and we have one player in particular playing hero ball and not doing his job.

We lamented our performance against some of these teams early, but it turns out our OOC was a LOT tougher than we gave them credit for, and it wasn’t just them playing their Super Bowl against the Griz. THey’re actually pretty good teams this year. We know EWU is ALWAYS a shootout (hell, we hadn’t wont there in 14 years) and the D came back and played lights out against NAU.

So, I ask again: Was Weber our “NAU” game this year? We’re gonna beat UNC and CP and come out of week 9 7-2 and then we finish with Davis at home, PSU at home and then at the ‘Scats. 9-3, a seed and multiple home games is not out of the realm of possibility.

I don’t think the a Griz are a bad team. I think the defense is not good, and certainly have had a much tougher schedule. But why compare to the cats? Defensively there isn’t a lot of common opponents to compare. My argument is look at the Dakota states game. Those were hard fought in the trenches play. The Griz cannot compete with that yet…just look at the natty. We need THAT kind of line play…especially defense. Offense we can score some, but not enough…as we’ve already seen.

Agreed. The crazy part is that it’s a lot of the same posters who were also doom spiraling last year.
Not saying they are wrong this year, but you would think they would have learned their lesson and be a bit more patient.
Have a little faith, Griz nation, because even if it is misplaced, it’s more fun than manic depression.

Yep, they might be good…next year. However, the amount of growth required for them to make a playoff run isn’t happening this season

Good grief. No one is manic...

The difference is last year the Griz D could be counted on to keep the score manageable. It allowed the offense and special teams to do enough to win. The same cannot be said this season...yet.

Yes. 100%. Those teams are good, but not unbeatable.

I think your team is much better than most on here are giving credit for. IF they can figure anything out on defense you could be right in the mix again come playoff time. I don’t care for your coach but he seems to have the Griz playing their best in November…

I don’t expect anyone in the board to give much credit you the Cats. That’s ok, but quit putting the Dakotas on a such pedestal. They are very good… but when they travel to Montana they can but beaten. Home field advantage is so big in the FCS

“Yet”? So did you miss the bit about being patient?
It’s still early and The Griz are relatively healthy. They could fall off a cliff and all you manics would be thrilled to say told you so. Or they could reach the summit again, and all you manics would be thrilled to say you were wrong. Either way seems too negative and stressful. The Griz will probably land somewhere in the middle, so would it not be funner to just enjoy the ride?

Last year, the O kept games close. This year, the O can hopefully be counted on to keep the score manageable. They really only need the D to do just enough to win. Basically the same as last year but with a role reversal. But manics gonna manic under either scenario

they built their teams nearly identical to how the Griz built their teams in the early-mid 2000's. Great Oline play, great ground game with a balanced passing game, control the TOP, great tackling, and above average special teams. It's been a proven winning formula.

And I'll repeat: We crushed the cats and beat NDSU just 10 months ago. So, to assume we "cannot compete" with literally ONE common opponent this year (with NDSU) and ZERO with MSU is illogical.

I agree with this. Offense will keep them in it, but the defense has to make some plays. Big difference from last year is also TOs forced. I think they are quite a few behind in that aspect if I remember correctly. A timely TO and score can win you a game or two in crunch time. Theoretically, the next 2 games should allow them to "learn" the defense and get better for the last 2 big games.
