The Ghost of Season Past

Seems so much of what's happened so far this year harkened back to last year.

Our expectations--sky high.

The injury to Akoh. O! Do we miss Fab!

The Timmy Fall controversy with the coaches. Echos of the Karl Nicholas problems last year. Weren't he and Karl Nicholas best buds?

And speaking of Nicholas, couldn't we have used him this year?

But I feel with this win, this team has put a stamp on THIS year. A signature win, unlike anything from last year.

A win that points us forward, toward conference, toward the New Year, with renewed faith and Best Wishes for our coaches, our team, every member of this board.

Yes - building momentum into the 2019 BSC schedule.

Everything above line 4 is history and not worth rehashing.
Everything below that is good.

Couldn’t have said it better Citay, and we absolutely needed that, and Arizona for a good preseason, but that one helped us a lot going into season with confidence? Had we lost, it might have been sad. I predicted 8~3, but it was a tough schedule. I saw us losing both AZ, Creighton not that badly, but also had us losing to Irvine only because of being a road game. In fact, all those games are winnable at home, sucks to have to earn your stripes, but that is where we are, and we are slowly doing it :thumb: :thumb: Go Griz!

If this team struggles that mightily without Akoh in the lineup, imagine how next year is going to look with out Akoh, Rorie OR Oguine...it ain’t gonna be pretty.

Unless they improve dramatically, Dorsey and Manuel aren’t the “answer”...Me thinks this may be Travis’s last hurrah here....

We will be young but we will have a good team coming, Freddy and Egun are going to be the next Rorie and Oguine (remember when they were FR.) Carter will surprise people and Falls......well he is. I have enjoyed the show for 4 years, I'm going to let it ride and then worry about it.

100% agree with that. I for one think the best is still ahead of us. Owens and Carter-Hollinger are two phenomenal wing recruits, paired with a good 3 point shooter and true point guard in Vazquez, along with young bigs in Anderson, Kramer, and Carter, and a good future guard duo in Egun and Brown. This team is still loaded with potential, even after this group of seniors leaves.

And....Pridgett returns! :thumb:

Y'all forgot the guy I'm most excited about next year, Tony Miller. All-Big Sky right out of the gate, in my estimation.

As for Pridgett. I think our coaches could do him a huge favor next year: Move him to point. He played that position in high school. He'd easily post up smaller Big Sky guards. And as a 6'5" point guard, he'd have a shot at a pro career.

Not to mention we'll have plenty of other talent at the wing positions next year--Dorsey, Miller, plus the incoming freshmen. I even think Egun will be a wing player. And with Pridgett running the show, we'd be "Power Five tall."

But this is the big difference DeCuire has made in this program: We won't rebuild, we'll re-load, just like the premier programs do. Sure, there'll be an adjustment; you can't lose four starters without that. But the talent will be there, and depending on how quickly the three freshmen--Owens, Egun and Hollinger-Carter develop--could jell into an even better team.

That's the excitement and the buzz around this program.

What about Freddy Brown? Haven't read much other than the initial reports.

Since we start 4 guards Pridgett is probably our 2nd best post-player behind Akoh. He will take it strong to the hole if available and also has a good fade-away hook-shot when he posts-up down low. Pridgett can do a little of everything and I think he is a great team guy that is willing to do what is necessary for the team, and right now we need him as a low-post presence sometimes
