A telling subject. From '93 through '09 it became automatic. "The Griz don't rebuild, they reload." The fairy tale is over. Living primarily on reputation since then. Griz and cats drop OUT OF THE TOP 25 this week, or should. The folly of the last few years has taken a toll. The chickens have come home to roost. 4-7, 5-6, 6-5, or 7-4? Forget the playoffs.
Have you paid any attention to what has happen to the ranked teams this weekend? It has been a "bloodbath." Yes, I agree that Griz can forget the playoffs. (I think, but who the Hell knows the way the season has gone.) I'll do my "poll guesses" tomorrow, but I'm thinking right now that neither Montana team will drop out of the top-25. Hopefully, as I said on another thread, Portland State will move into the top-10. Can't figure EWU -- they looked terrible, and only survived because of the weather.

It was amazing. Everytime the EAGS got the ball the wind and rain magically stopped. Then when Weber State had the ball the wind and rain were hurricane force. That was the only reason the EAGS won.

So the weather had no influence on the 3 missed Weber field goals?

Two of the three misses were with the wind. But given the immense size of Roos Field, I doubt wind had any affect on the field goals. :D :D

Actually on the last 2, which I watched, the wind was blowing across the field to guess what....the side that he missed them both wide...but why cloud things with facts....

So you were the guy with the anemometer and clipboard on the sidelines. I am glad you enjoy going out to EAGS games.

Actually....no....I doesn't take much to figure out which way the wind is blowing for most people....

Disappointed? Sure.

My last appearance on a football field was in pouring rain, with my face buried in mud and several much larger guys sitting on my head.

Don't like playing in the pouring rain. It's a different game.

Good for PSU. It's been a long time since they did anything. Griz did fine. They could have done better. They will.

Did anyone believe we be worse - particularly on offense - this year over last?
We lost Jordan Johnson (huge), and our offensive line isn't executing from what I can see, so it's understandable.

I didn't have many expectations for this season, just hope (because some coaches put on the gas faster). Once Pflugrad had a few years, we were beginning to roll. But it was ugly at first, and I conceded it may be for Stitt. The fact is obvious to me that it's just been a waiting game further suspended by throwing Robin out to dry, so going into this season we needed to start over from the beginning which meant giving Stitt time to actually recruit his own players to fit his scheme. This understandably prompts frustration from any proud fanbase but it's been too many years since we gave a good coach enough time. Maybe this is intuition - admittedly I knew more about Pflugrad, but I'm excited for the future.

You don't have to hide it anymore. You were there.

I didn't say I wasn't...just said that you don't need fancy equipment to figure out which way the wind is blowing...

I think our trajectory is positive for the future, but WTF?

Question: Losing Johnson, Van & Canada, do you think Delaney's offense would be doing any better?

I gotta admit that I didn't think we would be worse given Stitt. I bought in...I thought we would compete.

Honestly, who knows? Delaney offense the last few years was tough to watch. This years offense has at times been just as hard to watch. One positive I can see this year is that unlike the Delaney years with Gragg coaching the OLine, this year the line seems to be getting better week to week similar to the Hauck years, which bodes well for the future. One thing that continues to drive me nuts is gregoraks defense, which matches up very well against a pro style offense with a pocket passer qb, but is continually torn apart by dual threat qbs. I know he's trying to get that figured out, but yesterday I had visions of VA ripping our d apart, only this time it was whatever the qbs name from PSU

Just wait until Prukop gets going against us. Cats are lousy, but he just might hang 50 on this defense and we can't come close to matching that. Hate to say it, but he will eat our defense up!

Possible maybe, especially with our wonky, iffy offense that has lots of trouble finding points.

Never really jacked about the sitt aproach from get go. Said all along that D coordinators will figure it out, but our offense seems to do a good job of stopping itself.

Stitt may get the guys he wants in future to tool this clanker but I really doubt it will flourish here. I am an old school football guy.

Well, your offense will look like national champions when you play the cats in November.. We have a tendency to let everyone look world class against our defense

Delaney dumped Delaney's offense near the end of last year, after they proved conclusively it was a mistake to change it in the first place. And with the O-line play this season, Delaney's offense would be an unmittigated disaster if it was what we went with this year. Yeah, I get that it's not a mitigated success this year.

The weather definitely played a factor in those missed FG's for Weber, and on the whole, EWU didn't play well and should have lost the game.

That said, I would offer that the weather played a immense factor in the EWU offense's ability to move the ball through the air. When you are the #1 passing offense in the FCS, and can't throw the ball to save a lick, you are going to struggle. Was it the ONLY factor? Absolutely not. Our running game should have been better, but give Weber credit, they are a physical team and have some big boys up front. And even though it may have ultimately cost them the game, this type of game definitely favors a run type offense like Weber.

I guess the reason I am pointing this out is that I wouldn't look at this game and then pencil in the matchup in Missoula as an automatic win for Montana because of it. This probably isn't the most talented bunch we've ever had at EWU, but they are a resilient group and that can go a long way to winning games.
