Did Vigen and Cats have dumpster fire in 2023?
Last edited:
I doubt others will think it....but he might want the money and not have to face the fact he might have come back to ultimately be fired. That would be tough on his ego . There was one reason he got this job the second time after a horrible stint at UNLV, important money guys thought he would waltz back in and pick off where he left off. Thing is they didn't factor in well he was handed a Cadillac last time that self filled with talent and almost all top Montana kids were going to UM and not MSU due to them being so bad and didn't need to build his own program while MSU kicks his butt in recruiting . Haslam had no choice despite the horrible UNLV record as it was set up from day one by his buddies from 1.0 season. Any other coach with that UNLV record would not even have received an interview . 4 of his 5 seasons at UNLV he won 2 games...yes 2 gam

Why would a top school go coachless for most of the portal?I'd be surprised to see Wazzu hire an FCS coach after the Wulff debacle. I'd consider Vigen a better coach than Wulff, but I still don't see it.
Hiring from within - new head guy is already on the staff? Why would a top school go coachless for most of the portal?
All of you get rid of Bobby people need to realize he is not going anywhere. He just signed a 3 year extension plus we went to Frisco last year and I guess that is not good enough. Yes this was a disappointing year and we had two losses that should never have happened. Recruitment and transfers coming in both look good. Now here is one final comment that will not go over well with all of you Bobby haters--let's all get on the bandwagon of being true Griz fans and show our support for the whole team and coaches--they all want to win just as bad as we do and probably more
Just because he reached out doesn’t mean he’s leaving, or necessarily want to. With Eck and now potentially Vigen going FBS he probably is keeping tabs on his surroundings like any coach would. Seeing what’s out there and why. Depending on who lands the job for the Cougs it could be a good time to snipe some of their players in the portal. The latest Washington State coaching hot board was released today, and something interesting caught my eye:
Bobby Hauck
CURRENT ROLE: Montana head coach
WHY HE ADDS UP: Hauck has made inquiries about the WSU job, sources tell CF.C. And he has done nothing but win at Montana. Over two stints in Missoula, he is 138-41 with 12 FCS playoff appearances and three trips to the title game, albeit all losses. Hauck has never had a losing record at Montana and at 60 years old, he may view WSU as the last stop of his career.
DOWNSIDE: Hauck gave FBS football head coaching a shot and it did not go well. He was 15-49 in five years at UNLV. Round two could go differently, but the body of work for Hauck at the FBS level might be seen as a red flag to the decision-makers at Washington State here in 2024.
He’s at the very bottom of the board but I found it interesting that he’s inquired. Makes you wonder why he would reach out to them.
To who ? Just like the transfer portal last season the majority were not good as I stated then. I was proven correct. I see nothing special in the portal/transfers lineup for the next season. The facts are we cannot recruit quality portal players because of coaching. They simply do not want to play here. The few good ones we get lucky on stay, build their resume and leave.Recruitment and transfers coming in both look good.
Because the coach left for another college I suppose. Why would a top school go coachless for most of the portal?
So they have to wait a month to hire a coach? They’ve 25 to Portal already.Because the coach left for another college I suppose.
After 8 years of waiting , well 7 if you count the anomaly of last year the just wait is wearing thin. All of you get rid of Bobby people need to realize he is not going anywhere. I think 4 transfers became starters on the D. You weren’t proven correct. To who ? Just like the transfer portal last season the majority were not good as I stated then. I was proven correct. 2023 wasn’t an anomaly. After 8 years of waiting , well 7 if you count the anomaly of last year the just wait is wearing thin.
If you look at his entire body of work for his 2.0 stint yes it actually is. Someone broke it down already (somewhere on one od these posts) but the normal has been around a 4th-5th place finish in Conference and a road playoff loss usually in the 2nd round.2023 wasn’t an anomaly.
How was that defense? I'm guessing Weber would like to see it every year.I think 4 transfers became starters on the D. You weren’t proven correct.
Cats were 8-4 in 2023. First game playoff loss at home. Dumpster fire, by your standards.2nd > 5th
