Is the second scenario any better than the first though? The consistent failures of this product are a problem.

If you zoom in on the picture on the left, that does not look like its a okay and just a staffer noticing a noise and a precaution deflating. That looks like its ripped from off at the seams.
I have no reason to doubt your bubtech bona fides, so I’ll take your word.

It’s a safety issue. What if the bubble collapsed on a team while practicing, school would go bankrupt, why are the engineering reports not available, MSUs are for there facility.

Agree with this. AD should look at the Taylor Sports Complex on WSU campus. (A school with significant financial challenges of its own.)
It is a permanent IPF that was constructed in about a year. They took down their 10 yo bubble in Oct 2023 and it was available for use in September 2024. Cost was $27 million & completely donor funded- all public record.
Seems reasonable if we paid $10 mil for the current POS eyesore.

Good lord. How many chicken littles does it take to devour any good karma? Give the athletic department and AD a break. The weather was ridiculous and shit happens. I am pretty sure the company will either completely replace or repair the inflatable bubble. The sky is falling! The sky is falling! Oh no, teams might have to practice outdoors like they have since - forever! The bubble will be back up in the near future and then Q3 bubble watching and bitching can commence again.

I'm so tired of hearing this "a permanent facility was too expensive" crap when we are D1 and NAIA Valley City State is almost done with a permanent IPF, and they're in the same conference as Tech and Carroll and are in a town of ~6500. This is just embarrassing for UM. It cost $13M, aka just north of the cost of the faulty bubble.

We have the Washingtons (among other boosters) and a stadium and fanbase that are 10x the size. It's embarrassing that we couldn't get a permanent facility while the school 3 levels beneath us could. If Haslam would actually fundraise to the community at large like fricking MSU did, we wouldn't be having this stupid conversation.
The bubble is ugly, tears seemingly every couple months, and is well behind MSU's permanent structure (and now they have a national title as well as a functioning facility to recruit against us with). Stop defending our AD's stupid decisions. They f'd up, end of story

Washington's aren't currently doling out cash and it would seem the fanbase wasn't coughing up the bag either. There is nothing inherently wrong with bubbles, and this one being a lemon will work itself out one way or another. On the record, I would find it great to have a permanent structure, but currently UM isn't in the financial position and this isn't only an issue within the athletic department. Did you donate?

Anyone who has been in the bubble knows it’s more than just a bubble. Each light probably weighs a 150lbs.

LMFAO….Gary Tharaldson was from Valley City, grew up with nothing and got a PE degree and was a school teacher. Invested in a hotel and grew it from there. Truly self made billionaire.
Not related to oil money at all….and yes…an NAIA will have a far superior practice facility compared to UM.
UM is falling behind….it is going to really be evident here in the next couple of years when they are still in the FCS and MSU has moved on.
