The Big Donor Thread - Your Chance to Set the Record Straight!

AllWeatherFan said:
There’s been a lot of discussion on the forum about what involvement the Big Donors had, if any, regarding the recent firing/hiring of UM football coaches. Some posters have theorized, correctly or incorrectly, that Big Donors wanted Coach Hauck when Coach Delaney left, and that, after the most recent loss to MSU, the Big Donors finally accomplished what they set out to do three years ago.

This is an opportunity for the Big Donors to set the record straight. Please answer the following questions:

  • How big of a deal are you? Do you donate over a million dollars a year? If not, what do you generally contribute on an annual basis? You can give us a range if you like. We promise we won’t audit your 2017 tax return.

What exactly do you feel you are entitled to because of your donations to UM? Veto power over coaching candidates? The right to tell the AD how it’s gonna be? Hire/fire? What’s up?

How did it all go down this year? Enquiring minds don’t want to speculate!

Were you the person the Missoulian kept referring to as “a source familiar with the process?” Or were there several people in that boat? Did you leak this in an attempt to influence the final decision, or did you in fact make the final decision?

How many phone calls did you make to San Diego between 2014 and 2017? More than a hundred?

How long will you give Coach Hauck to accomplish the goals you’ve set for him? Two years? Three years? One year?

How tight are you with PlayerRep? Growler? Hello? [Tap, tap.] Is this thing on?

How big will your tax cut be this year? Wait, that's irrelevant. Sorry.

What percentage of your annual donations go to the scholarship association versus academic programs?

Thank you for your financial support to the University of Montana, thank you for clearing the air, and most important...GO GRIZ!

Just let it go man. stitt is gone. everybody is happy. go outside and get some fresh air or something

OMG, AWF...post of the decade! You covered what I have been thinking and then some...disclosures...I had to give up my two season tickets as I had leave Montana because of economic conditions...translation...education does not pay well in the "last best place".
Growler? No. But I did quit reading Maroon Blood months ago because he was doing the technicolor yawn all over that site. I am suspecting he popped an aneurysm due to his erection from Hauck being rehired...

Except that he always hated Hauck when he was here last time!

i've donated some to academics, but not a lot, as there are other causes that are even more important (for me, personally). but nobody cares about that, on to the big stuff! i've met greenie in his 'box' (ahem), and i've been 'supposed' to meet sunny twice, but both times he disappeared after saying we should meet up. more importantly, i've met greenie74, aka mrs ronald, aka a big donor deluxe. so big that one time greenie74 called wayne hogan using his ultra cool new cell phone - while hogan was being interviewed on tv during the halftime of a game. greenie74 and his fellow 16 year-old rich friend/sycophant thought that was really funny, which was kinda sad. this was about 2002, and greenie74 had one of the first camera cell phones. he sent text messages back and forth with greenie26, who was in their 'box' while we watched the game.

cue greenie telling me how great greenie74 is, and how bad i am. sorry in advance greenie, but the guy didn't impress me. don't worry, though, i doubt i impressed him, either.

Does weight or stomach size count towards being a big donor, or is it just cash and pledges?

A former athletic dept person told me that UM was hoping to get $5 million from my relative. Does that count?

Yes.

Is he single?

Married, with 4 kids.

So he "puts out"!

 Thanks, GP...that was going to be my next question.

Are you? 😁

Hmm...depends.

I'm calling on the rest of you to PM me everything you know about blackfoot.

I pay for my GoGriz subscription for sept every year so I can watch the non-con games. I think it's pretty big cus my wife says it's a waste of money. Not because I'm watching football but because I get so frustrated with the crappy coverage and GoGriz's crappy service.

I offered up two prize possessions for a possible fundraiser option -- my battered and broken 1961 pink Rambler that's sitting on blocks in my backyard and my completely cherry 1971 Electric Football game (with box) -- but have yet to hear back. I might have to sweeten the pot with some gems from my baseball card collection.

I buy a half dozen tickets once a year, balk at paying $6.95 to view a game on GoGriz.com, and buy most of my Griz apparel at Wal-Mart (on clearance, of course). I've made embarrassingly low bids on Griz memorabilia at various GSA functions and, to feel better about my lack of financial support of the athletic department, I have sent handwritten thank you notes to some of our coaches. Let's see, what else... oh right, my dog's name is Monty (yes, with a 'y' not an 'e' so that probably doesn't count) and our kitchen is painted maroon.

So I guess you could say I'm a bit of a high roller.
