Thanks Griz Nation, I'll never forget Saturday's game

When I'm in the stands and not in the PB, I, even though I'm 38 now, still stand on the concrete in 120, for two reasons. Number one, I DON'T, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, EVER, NEVER, SIT DOWN During a Griz game, with the exception of a long ass TV time out, and even then it's rare. And in that section, no one does either. Secondly, it's the Student Section, and I enjoy the energy and the passion for the Griz which comes from that part of the stadium. Now, of course, we don't get down to the first 10 rows, in the mayhem of the students, but I stand right above it. The students that come to the games, the ones that actually care about football, and about the Griz, would be HATED on this board. They cheer for the team, NO MATTER WHAT. They don't shout coach-bashing comments that none of them could friggin here anyway, and they LOVE the players whether they're up by 20 or down by 20. That's what real college football student sections do... unbridled, totally biased support for their team. Call it sugar-coating all you want, but I was always led to believe, if you're a passionate fan of something, you give it your 100 percent support. The UM students, that go to the games, do that, and I like to be around that during the games that I'm in the stands for. So I didn't on Saturday, and never witness the kind of behavior DMont witnessed at the CC game.

However, what he describes doesn't shock me one bit. After last year, I felt like we actually needed one or two more losing seasons to purge the fanbase a little. Many, Many, Many spoiled brats who can't let go of 1995 or 2001 and they never will get over it, and NOTHING Montana has done since the 2001 season will ever be good enough, or ever make them enjoy Griz football again.

This sounds exactly how I handle the games :). I have made a promise to myself to never go into any other section but the student section. I'm always unable to grab a student ticket so I usually buy a ticket every week for $20 or something from someone and go immediately to the student section. I stand exactly what you described just 10 ish rows up and I mimic your thoughts exactly. The level of football knowledge at that section area is higher than 98% of egriz posters or football fans. Everyone seems to know everyone on the team, their back story, their hometown etc. I really enjoy the atmosphere and as I posted earlier the only time I was ashamed was when Dan missed that field goal for the loss in I believe was 07?

Next year if you ever want company my gf and I are always at every game and are always looking for more knowledgeable friends to enjoy the game with. Hit me up if you would like some company as well.

GROW A SACK

Your making us sound like a bunch of pussies...

So people who don't like the idea of racist remarks being thrown at opposing players and some of the other despicable behavior described here just need to grow a sack? Really? So racism, spitting at opposing players and shit like that is OK with you?

Maybe the one who needs to grow a sack is the one who is OK with that type of behavior and doesn't say "WTF is your problem?" to the assholes doing that shit.

Good luck being the almighty police and preventing "despicable" behavior at a first round playoff loss in WaGriz...
You'd have better luck going back in time and convincing Hitler not to be such a dick...

Go microwave a hot pocket, read the 2014 2 deep thread and get the fuck over it....

You think football is full of heavenly fans?

Maybe you should watch ping pong or something...
Thanks for actually reading the post and proving a point all in one.
What did you do about it?? I think I missed that in your post? I've never been around any of that shit in "our" NEZ area... most of the season ticket holders showed up and I wouldn't want to f.. with some of the dudes in our area. If he was as bad as you purport I would of had his ass tossed or assisted with it yourself. Most people respond to S.T.F.U. moron. He may have been very intoxicated and this could be solid grounds for ejection. You are from Butte dude ! :egriz: p.s. thousands of people and we were not at the opera. ;)

I didn't see any of the things DMontana mentioned in our section, but based on all the crap I saw people throw on the field from most sections of the stadium it doesn't surprise me. That is just plain dumb and should never happen no matter what, it can never help and only hurt.

You know, it's interesting that people are surprised that excessive amounts of alcohol can make people say stupid things... :coffee:

But did it keep them warm?

Interesting observation to follow up comments here.

It seems that many people in areas with regular and committed attendance (mostly the NEZ) saw their same crowd of usual faces and had no new issues.

However those that sat in between the 20's on both sides, in areas where many usual season ticket holders bailed out due to the cold or whatever saw the most amount of issues. Seems most of the troubling displays were in areas left open by more affluent and older/long time fans who opted not to go which let a more fringe element in.

I guess I'm part of the "fringe element", but I did behave reasonably well on Saturday. I did appreciate the opportunity to sit at the 45 yard line, typically we are relegated to the southwest corner.

Been a loyal fan win or lose.....had a great time Saturday and sat with of great folks who understand the larger picture. Thanks BW for all your research and insights this year as always.

Too late, the ref threads started it but this was the death blow.

Naw, we make more noise, stand longer, and yell the whole game, something you guys forgot how to do. Bobcat football would not be his cup of tea. We even do unclassy things like yell at refs and heckle opposing players, you know, when they deserve it. ;)

I'm definitely part of that fringe element that bought a ticket from one of the older fans who didn't want to go. AND if it wasn't for me and the guy wearing the Carroll coat, there'd be no one in 105 doing much of anything in that dead zone.

I just think that it's a part of the current culture in America. Look how quickly the attacks come on this board.

I was in 106, and there were a few idiots. I was fairly close to where I sat a lot throughout the year, and I recognized the two idiot's voices, so they were not new. I am ok with screaming at refs a bit, and a good heckle is great, but yelling at an opposing player while he is down is ridiculous. I made a comment to these people, and so did an older, bundled up guy behind me. This area has never been real active to begin with, when it comes to the whole "cheering" thing. I kinda stuck out like a sore thumb, but a tenish year old sitting next to me joined me in regular revalry, once he saw it was OK..the kid was cool, knew the game, and the team. Was refreshing.

Also, as I walked out of the stadium, a few people joined me in wish CCU good luck, as they walked towards the lockers. Personally I did not hear anything bad, but have been to enough football games, that I am sure a few jackoffs were about..

Shut your damn mouth, cclarkblues. The day you make any resemblance of sense, I'll stand on my head and piss ice cubes. You're not a true fan and never will be. I bet you'd like to get a jobber from Royce and Mick probably promised your inbred cousin thrice removed a scholly. And another thing, why the hell do we not have a dome like NDSU? And before I forget, I'd like to play the Seahawks at WaGriz. We'd beat them as long as we Southland Conf doesn't send the officiating crew.

Just demonstrating half the threads that show up after a loss.

the rich folk left and all the po' people moved in! gawd forbid!

speaking of troubling displays...

Upper 131 was fine. Sparse. But lots of regular season folk. The only thing I saw was a couple guys that looked like students flipping CCU the bird as they left the field. Not sure what those dBags were thinking. Didnt hear the stuff Dmont got into.
