Texas Recruiting

Montana ( we do have good players that come from this state), Washington, Oregon, California, Idaho, and the midwest.
We have some good players that come from Montana——not many compared to a talent rich state like Texas. It’s good to recruit the few good Montana players, but focus on other states that produce more talent.

I agree I also suggest looking at some of the better programs in Central TX, Cibolo Steele, Lake Travis and Westlake all are producing multiple FBS and FCS players every year. The advantage of DFW is American flies directly to Missoula. When I was at UM 10 years ago, DFW was the most represented metro in Texas by far among regular students.
I'm surprised you know about Steele. That's a powerhouse HS in my area for the last 10 yrs.

I don't understand this logic. I understand the talent in Texas, but do you honestly believe that we would have consistent success recruiting in an area where there are 49 College football programs, and 100's more that come into this area for recruiting. Win Montana, Pacific northwest, California, and some big uglies in the midwest area.

The reality is yes... there is a tremendous number of high schools in Texas based on the population and in Texas 6A (and other classifications) many on those schools (with student enrollment over 1500+ and many times over 2500) have decent players that only occasionally see the field. That's not to discount the numerous small schools that have players that just aren't recruited (Cam Ward comes to mind)...Most of the high school games in Texas I've attended march out lineman on both sides of the ball that look like they belong lifting vehicles over their heads... Even with 49 programs there seems to be lots of talent looking for playing opportunities...
