Texas Recruiting

It seems, the GRIZ are finally very actively recruiting Texas. What GRIZ coaches have ins there?

Can we add NE, OK, and the SE in general?

Any areas we have coaching "ins" we're not utilizing yet?

Seemed like a Bradford connection and continued on after decent success.
Texas used to be a cat hotbed.

The Griz staff usually recruits areas with a direct flight in and out of Missoula.
Families are able to watch kids play being the main factor there.
SEC country could be a bit of a stretch.
(never realized you could fly direct to Atlanta)

I've been traveling the Texas to Missoula corridor for years going to Griz games and I can tell you from personal experience that every since the Missoula to Dallas flight was launched a few years ago I almost always see Griz fans on the flight. In fact for one of the flights last season one of the flight attendants came up to me to ask what all the people wearing Griz gear was all about...

Agreed 100%. The non-stops from Dallas really opened up peoples’ eyes.

There’s direct flights from ATL to montana? What airline? Bozeman only?

When you scroll down on the Missoula airport website it looks like there's a flight to ATL.

I believe the flights from MSO to ATL are seasonal only in the summer, and are only offered on certain days (I know it used to be only offered on Saturdays, not sure if that's still the case, or if there are more flights on other days of the week).

We should be recruiting the DFW Metroplex more. They have the best high school talent in the country top to bottom. At the top it is hard to beat the Trinity League in SoCal but DFW is unbeatable with the depth of their programs.

I agree with what you say. I, also, suggest looking at Houston, TX.

I agree I also suggest looking at some of the better programs in Central TX, Cibolo Steele, Lake Travis and Westlake all are producing multiple FBS and FCS players every year. The advantage of DFW is American flies directly to Missoula. When I was at UM 10 years ago, DFW was the most represented metro in Texas by far among regular students.

We do not need to be wasting our resources recruiting in an area where there are 49 college football programs. We need to secure OUR pipeline and develop those players. Development is the KEY.

I mean I think it’s always wise to try and pick 2 or 3 from this area. Just because there’s so many that slip through the cracks. But like you say it’s also the most highly recruited metro area in the United States. So you’re fighting everyone down here.

Yes they are seasonal only. I have taken it during the summer and it only operates on certain days of the week. Flights have been full when I have taken it
