Who says that we don't already have a great QB on the roster as a freshman?

You would think he would already be starting over Gus if he was really great.

Not necessarily. There is a maturity difference between a freshman QB and a senior. If there is a good QB in the system (Gresch Jensen), let him redshirt and really learn the system. When it's his time, he'll shine. I'd rather have him sit now and mature instead of starting right away.

Tell that to Charlie Strong and see what he thinks. Texas is playing a true freshman QB even though they have a veteran QB in Swoopes but i can see where you are coming from.

They only used him to run the ball once they got down inside the 10 and you knew he wasnt going to throw the ball.

I just wish the dynamic Stitt offense would use the middle of the field as an option to throw the ball. 9 out of every 10 balls is thrown into the flat of down the sideline. I am not sure if that is what Stitt really wants or he just doesn't like Gus to throw over the middle.

Horner and Bingham had 7 catches. You don't think most of them were in the middle? 9 of 10 balls are not thrown to the flat or sideline.

EWU has a new passing game coordinator/QB coach that has made changes to the offense. This is a big reason that Gubrud is starting over Hennessey/West, as he is the more mobile QB, and fits the new offense better.

Great point...adding Taylor to the coaching Staff and changing the offense this year was huge, Gubrud fits the QB mold for the new offense much better...

Not so. We were able to recruit Willie Pflug. He too was the best QB on the team when he was a freshman.

“Spoken like a true libtard... ” Only a wingding moron would turn a quarterback question into a question about politics. When you go through coaches who recruit for their own needs and when those coaches change and new coaches come along with new offensive philosophies — especially as varied as Pflugrad’s, Delaney’s and Stitt’s — the players recruited by one coach may be all wrong for the next one. What we need is enough continuity to get the right players in place for the coach we have.
