While I think I understand the reasoning, if the field can be broken down into ten "lanes" or routes, limiting the throws to just two of those lanes cuts the options by 80% of the field. If there's no threat on 80% of the field, it does seem like it simplifies the defense considerably.HelenaHandBasket said:It sure makes playing defense easier when you don't have to worry about the middle of the field.UMGriz75 said:When Gus misses, it is all too frequently an overthrow. I would imagine that Stitt doesn't want a live field behind the receivers. Seems like it is getting all too predictable though.BubbleScreenBob1 said:That bugs the hell out of me too. I dont think Gus has the time to look down the middle so he just relies on getting bailed out by throwing out to the flats all of the time.HelenaHandBasket said:I just wish the dynamic Stitt offense would use the middle of the field as an option to throw the ball. 9 out of every 10 balls is thrown into the flat of down the sideline. I am not sure if that is what Stitt really wants or he just doesn't like Gus to throw over the middle.
