TELEVISION FOR ISU GAME

Why is it the Griz are having trouble getting TV coverage in Montana? This never used to be an issue. ABC, CBS, Fox, ROOT or Altitude, one of these always had the game. What gives?

The Big Sky Conference determines television rights for conference games. Eleven Sports is some sort of regional TV Network, which likely outweighs the more local option in the Big Sky's mind. I honestly think that is stupid logic, but I am not an employee of the Big Sky Conference.

These new stations, SWC, Eleven Sports I have never heard of. The game last week was broadcast on SWC in Montana, which turned out to be ABC in Great Falls. If I can't get this game on Dish this Saturday, I will venture to the Sting Sports Bar where I know it will be on... Thank you for the update!

May see you there then. The Sting is a great place to spend the afternoon. Wouldn't mind driving to Poky if the weather isn't too bad.

Just hate that arena down there. The Sting is tough to beat...

Eleven sports is on Playstation Vue (through Roku, Apple Tv,) for stream options. In case this is available for you, I did find the game in the guide.

I see this has a 5 day free trial. Think I'll try it out this weekend. :thumb:

How did Stitt let this happen? First special teams and now TV. Clearly we need to go in a new frequency.

Every Egrizzer needs to petition one of the local tv stations to bring back our team. I think ABC channel used to always carry the griz games before ROOT got involved.

I think ROOT Sports does a great job. Certainly better than the local stations, but I get why people who don't get ROOT would feel upset about it.

But there shouldn't be a need to petition over it since it sounds like ROOT will have streaming options available for games next season.

Swx (Montana Fox and ABC) early on had the TV rights to the ISU game. Eleven Sports swooped in late in the game and acquired them. Spectrum (Charter) just dropped Eleven Sports from their lineup.

That sucks. So what's the best viewing option in MT?

Red's Bar!!!

I see it listed on spectrum/charter in Missoula @ 2:30 Saturday channel 762 (ESN)
but checking out the channel it says I don't have it, but can upgrade (press here)....then it tells me it's unavailable.

Yup. Jump through enough hoops and you'll find that it is available on something like Spectrum II-which is only a "little more" than Charter's comparable Gold package. But isn't available on Charter. And they can switch you to Spectrum immediately. However, you can't go back to your Charter rate. Cute corporate trick to get all old Charter customers off old rates on to new Spectrum packages. It will be on 762 if you pony up to the new Spectrum deal.

Ridiculous that the BSC and the university's representatives went along with an agreement that prevents 99% of their fan base to watch a game. They sure are not looking out for alumni and exposure for the program. Now Montana residents for the most part will see the Cat game and the Griz are banished.

Is the Eleven sports channel on Direct TV part of their packages or do you need to buy the extended sports package?

You need to have the sports package for channels in the 600s.

I upgraded my sports package for $8 a month and was told I could cancel at any time.which I will do in 2 months. $16 for 3 or 4 griz road games is well worth it.
I use my daughter's direct tv account in San Diego and sling it with a slingbox. It's already set up to record.

It's a good deal for an FCS fan. There are a number of FCS games on the channels that you wouldn't normally get. Too bad all of the major sports are blacked out though.

Add the TVcast app to your phone or tablet. There are specific ones for the device you'd like to stream to such as Chromecast or Roku. When you open the app there's a browser you can use to go to any stream you can watch on your phone/tablet. Once there you can stream it to your selected device. I've worked with both the Roku and Chromecast versions. The Chromecast one has been flawless for me while the Roku one has been glitchy. It could be due to me using older versions of Roku 2 but IDK for sure. With this app I have found that I can literally watch anything that streams on my phone/tablet on my TV via Chromecast. In conjunction with the Chromecast, this app has been the greatest sports streaming advancement for this cord cutter that I've found. If you can access a stream, you can put it on your TV. http://video-tv-cast.com/chromecast/

You can stream Root Sports games this season using the DirecTV Now service. Every Bigsky game that is on Root is on a channel called "Audience" on the DirecTV Now service. That channel is available on even their lowest package that is $35/mo with no contract. Someone last week found a link to a free one month trial.

I have Dish Network. I have every channel they offer I thought. I have to look when I get home to see if I can get this game on any channel on Dish.

I cannot find the game on Dish at all. I emailed marketing and was told the Big Sky Conference is responsible for this debacle. My kids tried to use Pluto last week and it drive them nuts. The screen kept going black and the announcers had no info on the griz...suggested the reason for the #11 flag was for the number of guys on the team.

This weeks game isnt on Root so streaming Root wouldn't help. This week on some obscure channel. If not on Root should be on locals, BSC and our representatives at the meetings should demand it. Of course the school that have no following don't care....but Griz nation does. Stand up for the nation Has"been"lam

Is not on root sports for streaming nor on ESPN3. On stupid Eleven network that has no footprint in Montana. This is asinine!
