I believe the question is "How come there is not alot of hype about Tebow in the draft or as a pro?" The answer is that he sucks. No arguement that he is a great college player, but he is terrible at being an NFL prospect. At sometime in the late 80's the award started going to a feel good person as you can see from the list below. I'm not ragging on him because he's the exact same religion that I happen to be, I'm calling into question the crush that ESPN, you and so many others have on him. His personal life lifts your opinion of him to a point where he will disappoint everyone who thinks he will be so successful. My distaste for him is the fact that he is a gimmick player, the quarterback from central michigan is responsible for more touchdowns in his career so why is he the best senior coming out? He isn't if you want the question answered don't kill the messenger for pointing out the obvious. In the past 28 years there has only been 1 defensive playerand he is a lock down corner and yesterday selected defensive player of the year, most have been NFL busts especially since Sanders won in 1988. The trend is turning into a popularity contest. Until Tebow lost 1 game he was the favorite to win it all this year unless you count when Bradford was the favorite to win before the BYU game. The long and short of it, he is a great athlete, but not and NFL star, that's what they look for. He is not a good NFL style qb won't be ever. The heisman started being a joke when it turned into a mancrush award around 1990. I only count 3 players since Sanders won that are worth half of what their contracts were paying them. You'll note that all players since 1981 I ranked, some of you may disagree, but it's pretty darn close.
