Tebow wins Heisman

I won't apologize, but he certainly was the best player in college football this year.. kind of unheard of what he did this year.. pretty amazing. I was still pulling for Colt Brennan.

He definitely deserved it. Although if I had to say who the best player is, not who had the best statistical season, I'd go with McFadden.

Last year when he got in the game, the announcers would bad mouth him because "all he could do is run".

The Heismann Trophy is not given to the best player in college football, otherwise they would consider athletes who play Defense as well.

It's a lame a$$ award, well past it's time.

Very true, and Tebow wasn't in the top 5 of "best players" in college football.

He lost more games than all the others.

It took him 3 more games to put up the numbers Brennan did.

It least he seems like a very well grounded young guy and it's nice to get a guy that can speak as a Heisman winner.

Maybe I can get this in the right thread.

This guy was screwed... not even in the running.

"Kevin Smith scored 30 touchdowns and averaged over 185 yards per game for the University of Central Florida. Only three other players in NCAA history have scored more touchdowns in a season; only Sanders has run for more yards. To put it in perspective, Kevin Smith ran for over 700 more yards than Darren McFadden this season."

He also was not a candidate for the walker award for best running back.

UCF.. therefore, no one cares. Big problem with college football. A lot of good players don't get noticed when it's awards time.

so was I

ECB all the way. Tebow wasn't even the best QB in Florida. That would be Matt Grothe.

The winner should have been a player on this list (not necessarily in this order):

1. Colt Brennan
2. Lex Hilliard
3. George Selvie

What is wrong with you? Why are so blindly biased towards USF? Tebow is much, much better than Grothe. And there's all kinds of great defensive players better than Selvie. Grow up.

Every time I saw Selvie on TV, he was in some QB's face, if not actually sacking his @$$. I've seen both Grothe and Tebow on TV this year, and nobody can convince me that Tebow was better. He has no freaking mobility, and can't hit a receiver as well as Grothe can. Grothe also has the mobility modern offenses crave.

BTW, I almost played for USF after UOP gave up the ghost. My position coach at UOP was USF's first OC and their current passing game coord. In my mind, even if it is as warped as GB will gladly tell you, the best assistant coach in the country and most deserving of a HC slot is Mike Canales.

In my opinion it should have gone to Dennis Dixon. When he was playing Oregon was on top of the world. After he was hurt the team fell apart. He would have got my Heisman vote.

Tebow needed to have a speech coach help him. He was a little too fast in his delivery and he seemed to repeat everything three times.

Agreed... he should've at least been in NY.

Charles Woodson

I know he played Special Teams, and some O, but he was a CB straight up.
