yesterday at the Polson Country Club. He was in town for the M2WB bash at the Wilma this weekend. He is playing piano in Las Vegas and loves it, although he was happy to be back in the Flathead to slow down a bit. He played in the Las Vegas city league with David Bell and Dan Trammell plus another x-Griz I forgot the name of. In Sam's words...they kicked butt. No surprise there. He, David and Dan have all been contacted by the CBA and they will probably give it a shot. Lot's more money in piano playing however.

There is talk that maybe Great Falls and/or Butte may get a CBA team(s.) It would be fun to see ex-Griz on either team(s.)

They had a newsconference tuesday in butte anouncing the "Butte Daredievils" CBA team. Matt Luedke (sp?) was the first announced signing - he was at the conference. Would be nice to see some others w/ Montana ties get a chance.

The Great Falls Explorers were announced as well, with former CGF, not UGF coach, Steve Aggers signed to coach.

Sam who? I just don't recall any legit ball players going by that name from around here. :tounge:

yeah, wasn't he a quitter on a former crappy griz hoop team? left because he didn't want to compete for the starting job? part of the more than one losing season at um? keep pounding the keys because you're too small sam. hoop dream is over!!! CBA--Can't Ball at All

As a basketball player, he was short, slow, and extremely clumsy. That goofy red afro hairstyle seemed to amplify his awkwardness.

But I bet he's a good piano player.

i always dug sam. we are the same age, so i grew up playing against him since 7th grade. he had a swagger and i loved that. 2 classic memories. '99, i was a bozeman guy, and we were getting ready to play west in the chipper. hellgate and helena were in a close ball game. don't remember the score, but with about 10 seconds left, and the place packed, he lobs the ball high in front of him so he can raise his arms and get the crowd to stand up! he proceeded to run down the floor, and nail the winning three. i later found out that he actually told the guy guarding him where he was going to make it from right before he did! the other was the montana-wyoming game. wyoming was on the floor first warming up, and when the montana guys came out, instead of going around like everyone else, he went right in between the whole squad, even bumping a few. cocky....maybe. entertaining...for sure. and he's a cool guy. wish his griz days could have went better.
