Also had a pick in the 2nd scrimmage. OLB is a good fit for him

Johnson should have gotten more snaps last season, and I think we all know about Kidder. Throw in Tucker Schye and that's a formidable trio. We've been hearing good things about Jesse Sims too.

With Davis and Bradley both missing each scrimmage they've been using Sims on the inside. I think his roster weight shows him close to 260. Undersized for DT, but as a depth and spot rotation guy, it can work.

No shit Stitt....like that wasn't apparent after last season. Look at all the posts on here about needing still another DT (and all the Pedro hopes). Once Pedro situation was in doubt another JC would have been smart.

DT and corner are in high demand and I guess almost all were spoken for rather quickly. Anyone left over likely had baggage.

Yeah, cause really good FCS DT's grow on trees and every single one of em' is just lining up to play for the Griz. God some people will use any context they can find to push an anti-coaching agenda. Ursus, have you seen Brandt Davidson play? Stitt did an incredible job getting him alone. Depth is still an issue because of injuries to two backups that were going to both see plenty of role player time this season. It had nothing to do with Stitt's recruiting this year. He did an absolutely great job shoring up immediate DT needs.

BW - don't recall for certain, but did Kidder go much bigger than Sims when he was a frosh? I know he's an inch shorter, but only 10-15 lighter than Kidder now.

And like how we added Davidson and MMO this off-season? I think the move of Sims is more related to waiting on the return of Bradley and Davis than anything.

I love the idea of starting true freshmen for a couple of reasons. First of all if they are good enough to play then they shouldn't be riding the pine. Put them in if they make the team better. Most importantly though I think this gives us an edge in recruiting young talent. When the coach is sitting on a young man's couch selling the Griz, he can say that this person has the chance to start right away and be a star. Proof is "person A and person B etc." If they work hard enough and are good enough why wait. Plus it excites the fan base like nothing else. A bright future gets me jacked!!

Good experience for him to move around. I think when Stitt signed him he called him the "quiet storm" or something of the sort.

Pedro wasn't out of the picture until shortly before camp. There was no time left for another recruit after things finally fell through.
