T IX and NIL - so it begins

The division/split between men and women is one thing, but I'm also curious as to the split between sports. If schools want to get bigger per capita payments to football players, then women's teams like softball and volleyball (and soccer in some schools) are going to end up with a lot of money. To balance out the payments. I assume men's and women's basketball will get the same.

I don't see the federal government, even under Trump, allowing most of the money to go to the men's teams and football. No way would the Dems allow that. And then there's always the lawsuit route.

Livvy Dunne and Caitlyn Clark should make payments to us fans who watch them.

Yes - this is inevitable IMO. Many Olympic Sports are probably in jeopardy.
Always seemed inevitable. Now it will be legitimized as necessity d/t title IX, in the end costing tens of thousands access to a college education they may not have been able to before. Wasn’t that the initial point of college athletics and the idea of a student athlete? A mutually beneficial relationship. All so a select few can line their pockets. Its been like watching a snowball become an avalanche the last few years.

Maybe it’s the nostalgia of a bygone era that never truly existed though when you look at the under the table dealings that were occurring. However, now that it’s been legitimized, capitalism demands that we maximize profits and trim the fat no matter the cost, even if there is enough money to go around. Progress I guess 😕

With associated costs to universities, I can only imagine how fans will be priced out of attendance, and into TV subscriptions.

Easy killer. I'd pay good money to watch Livvy Dunne do certain things...

Personally, I like USA winning the most medals at the Olympics...

The vast majority of those athletes emerge from college athletics. I think there is better "fat" to trim.

I think this whole thing sucks...
