Always seemed inevitable. Now it will be legitimized as necessity d/t title IX, in the end costing tens of thousands access to a college education they may not have been able to before. Wasn’t that the initial point of college athletics and the idea of a student athlete? A mutually beneficial relationship. All so a select few can line their pockets. Its been like watching a snowball become an avalanche the last few years.
Maybe it’s the nostalgia of a bygone era that never truly existed though when you look at the under the table dealings that were occurring. However, now that it’s been legitimized, capitalism demands that we maximize profits and trim the fat no matter the cost, even if there is enough money to go around. Progress I guess
