Syracuse's Fab Melo ineligible

I actually have us against St. Bonnie in the Elite 8 and damn how drunk was I when I posted that incoherent thought?

So why isnt he eligible?
Good question. Apparently it's related to the earlier suspension -- which the school never explained either. The initial rumors said it was just a matter of class attendance (well, non-attendance), but the fan boards have gone downhill from there. Rumors -- NO collaboration -- suggest he may have had someone taking his tests, or at least one or two. The worse case scenario say he was never eligible to begin with due to SAT (or whatever) record fudging -- which could hit Syracuse way more than their run in the NCAA Big Dance.

Bottom line: No one on the outside knows squat. The latest -- which does seem to have some legs -- is that he will bag the whole "kids ball" thing and declare for the NBA draft.

Not a pretty sight. But what else is new?

i have been very busy this year, and outside the 2 griz games i watch every week i havent seen a ton of college hoops...watched the TV games on sat most weeks and big monday and supertuesday when i could, but never really saw SU...anybody know how bad this hurts them? just curious if anybody knows for sure or has heard anything, because that could definatly be something worth changing a bracket over, if he is that meaningful.

He is their best paint defender, and only intimidating paint defender. It will really hurt their defense. Basically they fall from a top 3 zone, to a top 10. I think it is pretty favorable if the GRIZ lost Qvale last season. I definitely think Kentucky, Missouri, North Carolina, Ohio State, and Michigan State are all better teams now.

yup, so that does change some things...thanks for the info...going to do a little more research on it but thanks...where would u have put them before the loss of this dude...right behind kentucky?

Had this happened before the selection show, a 2 seed. Had this happened a long time ago, 4 seed. They are top 15 team without him.

Really? u think they drop from the number 2 team overall to bairly a top 8? wow...so they are looking at an extremely tough 1 vs 8 game concidering kstate wins...sounds like him being out is definatly worthy of shaking up the east region

He is the Big East Defensive Player of the year. I would hate to see the GRIZ without Cherry this year, or Qvale last year. His offense and rebounding can be replaced, but hard to replace that kind of defensive presence, 8 to 10 points more for the opponents, without him defending the paint.

Have Griz fans ever before gone into March Madness hysterically overconfident :?:

Does anybody have memories of Glacial Lake Missoula :?:
