Pete Thamel from Sports Illustrated was less that optimistic about that this morning.. doesn't think Montana's perimeter game will last vs. Syracuse.

To paraphrase his quote-unquote... "All Syracuse has to do is stand in their zone with their hands in the air and they'll win."

Perhaps Thamel has confused basketball with horseshoes  :?:

I've always enjoyed Pete, and not just because he's a '99 alum of Syracuse.

Okay, so that's pretty much why I like him. That, and the fact that he infuriated Kentucky fans with his in depth piece last year about the exceptionally shady recruitment of Nerlens Noel.

Not to be a downer, but I'd like our chances a lot better against any other 4-seed. Just not a good match-up for us. They are waaay too long & athletic at every position. Going to be tough sledding for our guys. The best thing we have going for us is the distance they had to travel & the start time of the game, which isn't saying much. Hopefully those far-fetched intangibles will factor into the game somehow, & maybe they'll be a little sluggish. That being said, I'll be wearing my Griz gear & screaming at the TV tomorrow night, trying to will us to an upset W.

I agree...the only chance of an upset is if the Griz get on a roll with 3-pointers and Syracuse has an off day shooting. The Griz will get their shots blocked time after time trying to drive into the paint for short range shots or layups. I hope Hutchinson and Martin eat their Wheaties (and are practiced up on their flops) because Syracuse is going to be bringing it down low all day.

That's funny because I have seen every Syracuse game this year on TV and have screamed at the TV repeatedly, "put your hands up!".. I guess they couldn't hear me because they never did.

Only if we are in transition.. Otherwise we don't ever pound the ball down low. Majority of our scoring comes in transition and 5-20' jumpers. We are not nearly as good as we were last year.

Syracuse gets fewer points per game from their post players than Montana does.
And from every game I have seen them play, and it is a lot in LA, they foul a lot...
