This is one of the biggest offensive lines I recall seeing in some time, and the coaches really did great in the transfer portal this year. I'm basing the list below off BW's projected depth chart on the line (thanks BW), but I added Balver-Mendoza who just transferred in. Guys in Maroon are likely starters:

With the Griz pre-transfer portal:

Cannon Panfiloff – 6’6, 293 lbs., RS Senior
Torin Jeske, 6’6 253 lbs, RS Freshman
Trevor Steinbach, 6’5, 290 lbs, RS Freshman
Liam Brown, 6’5 317 lbs, RS Senior
Dillon Botner, 6’6, 290 lbs, RS Senior
Lucas Freitas, 6’6, 312 lbs, RS Sophomore

Matt Hilden, 6’6, 278 lbs, RS Freshman
Cade Klimczak, 6’1, 286 lbs RS Senior

Transfer portal additions:

Dylan Jemtegaard, 6’4, 295 lbs, RS Senior (Cal)
Jose Balver-Mendoza – 6’5 290 lbs, Redshirt Freshman (Kennesaw State)
Carter Bowen, 6’7, 320 lbs, Junior (Buter CC)
Patrick Matan, 6’4, 301lbs, RS Senior (NC State)
Everett Johnson, 6’7, 301 lbs, RS Senior (Cal)

That's an average of 6'5.4 and 302 lbs. for the starting line, and it's even bigger if Bowen claims a starting role. The '2nd string' averages 6'5.4 and 287.6 lbs. My hnch is we will see a lot of rotation through 1st and 2nd string.

Additionally, we have FOUR Freshmen on that list, who average 6'5.5 and 277 lbs (removing Jeske and the average jumps to 286 lbs). That's just awesome.

This is the first time in a long time where I think O-line is a big strength. Now we just need to be able to throw the damn ball...

I agree with you. It has been over a decade since I have felt this good about our line. Those freshmen pickups out of Washington were big, too. I was really glad to see they didn't follow Pawlak when he left.

In addition to that, we have 6'7", 261 lb Titus Rohrer coming in at TE to pair with 6'5" 273 pound Shafer and and 6'7" 258 lbs Olsen. We have some serious size to move people around. I'm excited about that.

It’s been a long time, if memory serves, which it probably doesn’t, I think 2008 the average was 6’8” 305. The smaller dude was the center at 6’5” 295’ish… also ‘05-‘06 they had some big boys too, I think. 🤔

Looks good on paper at least, let’s see how they play the flea-bitten Hagus eating heathens and Pam “we cheat like mofos” State.

A lot of short memories around here. I know Riley really emphasized at the end of 2021 about how big we looked compared to UW when the o line guys ended up on the field at the same time pregame. We had an outlier in Mallory but that line averaged 315 lbs across 7 guys and none were under 302 lbs. Was a 297 lb average when Hauck came back in 2018. Bigger isn’t always better and we really need guys around that 300 mark who can move and are good at their footwork. If they can do that at 10-20 lbs more, all the better, but seems hard to find. I think the recruiting reflects this since that time.

As far as average height though I couldn’t tell you as that never really seems to be something that gets talked about or kept track of when talking about the beef up front.

Winner, winner, chicken dinner! Great footwork fundamentals with great technique and lots of weight room work will always rule the day.
