What's the special today?

What's he doing?

He is thinking to himself "I bet we could give the kittys a first and goal on the 2 yard line and keep them from scoring"!

Yep, thats what he is doing!

This is a GREAT thread. Awesome shots and great memories. Does anyone have a shot of the Sambrano catch to beat App State? I've often thought if anybody got the right angle of that with all the elements that could be the shot of a lifetime

OMG! when i saw that pic i had a Chris Mathews moment. I had a thrill go up my leg and a tear well up in my eye!

Me too. I'm pretty sure I had tears in my eyes that day when it finally sunk in that the Griz were National Champions!

About the pic, Dave got hammered in that game and probably took a shot on that play but kept getting up and when the game was on the line Superman came through!

This may shock some Griz fans, but Jimmy Farris has not been to Washington-Grizzly Stadium since his last game here. ... Then again, how could he top that final game? Or for that matter, that final play – a 15-yard fade route in which he beat Appalachian State corner Corey Hall and hauled in a pass from Drew Miller. It sealed a 19-16 overtime win for the Griz, putting them in the Division I Football Championship. It also set off bedlam: Farris ran across the end zone, dunked the ball over the cross bar, survived a dog pile, came back across the end zone on Monte’s four-wheeler, and soon after that was crowd-surfing.
How ’bout that red-headed kid?” read a sign.

Thats not true. He was in the GSA tailgate a couple years ago before the game. I shook his hand.

"What's he doing?"

he is flashing gang signs ;)

Seriously... what is he doing? Is it a joke of him acting like he's holding a joint and all the fog coming out of the tunnell is pot smoke?

He is running out of the tunnel to 25 thousand people and all the players are excited. The photograph is a snippet of time and can show almost anything during that time. I seriously doubt this was anything other than an emotional moment.

Farris was in Missoula this fall, later in the season. I assume he went to the game, as he was downtown, including at the Depot, with a group of former players. I believe he still lives in Atlanta.

honestly I think he is "popping his collar" showing off the throwbacks as he runs out of the tunnel....the pic just caught him at the end of it so it looks awkward ;)

*cough*

Who remembers this game?

I remember it as one of the most physical games I ever attended at Wa-Griz.
