Summer "Practices" Began this Week

I think the guys came back last weekend, to start PRP's (Player Run Practices) this week, and start summer conditioning.

The Gazette ran a good article on this. It sounds like the NCAA now allows coaches to work with players with training and film study, but both Ash and Stitt are choosing not to take advantage of this. Not sure if they're playing coy, if they didn't know about the new rule, or if they truly have no interest in spending more time watching film and coaching over the summer.

Yeah....I know it does. I'm just not sure if I take the answers at face value. I would think a guy like stitt installing a new offense with a new QB would jump at the chance to get some extra film and practice time.

I would assume the big sticking point is that only players attending summer school could attend a coach led training or film study...

"summer school or meet specific academic benchmarks”

missed the "or"
in the article that seemed to be the Coach's issue as well..having to identify and separate those who WERE eliglble to participate and those who were NOT.

Thanks, PR.

I can't believe we are only 85 days away from kicking NDSUs behind. 8-)

My favorite qoute in that article is when Stitt said:

“But again, we just really felt like after spring ball that our kids had a handle on what we were doing on both sides of the ball and that they can go out and run these practices themselves."

So it's likely a better option then to let the team run the voluntary practices so everybody can participate.

Ok, ok... I'm catching on, lol :thumb:

My favorite part of the article was the picture and the caption which says,

"Montana's Zack Wagenmann, right, and Matt Hermanson take down Montana State quarterback Jake Bleskin during the 114th Cat-Griz game in Missoula last November. Montana won, 34-7." :thumb: 8-)
