Sugar-coated 2 deep roster

I think Lebsock should get a mention at safety and it wouldn't surprise me to see him starting toward the end of the season.

I'd read he was moving to LB - hence why I left him off the 2-deep for now.

yeah I guess I heard that also, now that you mention it. Seems like our depth at LB is good and not so much at safety so it makes me wonder why? Kid bulking up a bunch?

Could be, that and he's stuck behind Hermey @ safety for now with Rominger and Tully duking it out on the other side, he'd potentially be waiting 2 years to see much of a the field. At LB he could make an impact on more than just ST fairly soon.

I'm thinking he could beat out both of those guys with some playing time.

Will: Tripp/ Owen

That looks pretty good to me

That 3-4 looks really tough. I like the idea of Lebsock at OLB as well.
And he will have a couple years to learn behind JP. Then be a force when he's a junior

Rapidly proving how little I know, lol - here's my guess as to what the make up of the team entering fall camp will possibly look. Obviously changes will occur with the impact of freshman/transfers/etc

Lets start on offense:

QB: JJ / McKinney OR Smithwick-Hann
RB: Nguyen OR Moore / Canada
TE: Hardy / Haas
WR-Z: Saylor / Henderson
WR-X: Haynes / Carver
WR-Y: Gratton / Kemp OR Warren
T: Poole / Schmaing
G: Poehls / Hines
C: Oiland / Brauer OR Hines
G: Hendrickson / Kalekini
T: Kistler / Taves

------

Defense:

DE: Harris / Crittenden
DT: Bienemann / Ginn
DT: Takai / Tuliapupu
DE: Wagenmann / Kidder OR Rehm
OLB: Kanongata'a / Owen
MLB: Stuberg / Holt OR Coyle
OLB: Tripp / Coyle OR Holt
CB: Murray / Miles OR Goodwin
CB: Harris / Dennard
S: Hermanson / Coogan
S: Rominger OR Tully / Coogan OR Gratton

ST:

K: Lider
P: Shaw
LS: Tripp / Hardy
SS: Brauer / Ginn
KR: Nguyen / Henderson
PR: Henderson / Nguyen

I believe that Holmes, Wolcott & Goodwin will see time. They will contribute regularly. If you are pouring...I'm drinking! I Like!! :thumb:

The way Gregorak likes to use his linebackers I'm sure that Coyle will get plenty of PT regardless of the depth chart. Several references to Pierson at TE, Brint----is that his position now? Seems we could use him at DE, and we looki pretty solid at TE with Hardy/Haas.

Yes he plays TE now. He had his chances to show he's a DE.

No way Coyle is not in the starting line-up at LB

Considering I listed him on the 2-deep behind Tripp and behind Stuberg yeah you're right... as was I.

However Coyle is our most versatile LB and will, in many cases, be the first LB off the bench, he is the only LB I've seen this spring play multiple positions really well.

Coyle is a much better LB than Stuberg

I think Pierson will be a darn good TE. He was mentioned as one of the biggest surprises this Spring. He was the best TE on the team this Spring IMO.

I think he'll be ok there but considering there were only 2 TEs suited up in spring ball Pierson didn't have a ton of competition to be the best TE on the team.

Clay has the size/strength to be a TE, he really needs to work on catching.

I watched him in the Spring game and I thought he was better than ok-caught the ball well, ran great routes, AND blocked very well. Played against our #1 defense not sure if that is good competition or what. When Hardy comes back he'll be the man for sure but Clay will help em out. I think with his speed, size, and athletic ability he will be a hell of a red zone target or a 3rd and long type TE. Like i said, he was mentioned by Coach Delany as one of the biggest surprises of the Spring. Hope he can show his stuff next season.

If I remember right, didn't Clay have some mad hops in High School? At his height, I would think he has not lost much in his leaping. I hope not, that would be one hell of a redzone weapon. :thumb:
