After years of having zero safety talent you guys argue about the three decent players that the Griz now have. Jez....Sanders seems like he is still trying to get healthy. Sandry is young....They'll both be starting due to the Strong suspension. Let's see how it goes. If Sanders gets healthy and begins to play better, I'm still for a Strong/ Sanders tandem because of experience.Sandry is the future....

Didn't we have a great safety named Jimmy Wilson, I guess I don't understand the comment, years of having zero talent....

i get what you are saying but that was 5 years ago

Also, Justin Whitted (pretty good safety), Matt Hermanson (1st team all conference as a senior, only 2 safeties picked that year; 2d team all conference as a junior), and Mike McCord (2d team all conference as a senior). All in last 5 years.

Yamen has given up 3 TD's in 2 games. He's consistently out of position, and finds himself getting flat-out beat by inferior athletes. I think he's the victim of the Jadeveon Clowney effect...one big hit (against EWU last year), and people all of a sudden recognize him and his measurables, without looking at any of the previous tape.
Do you guys think it's a coincidence that Sandry had more tackles in his first 2 starts than Yamen did? The Bigfork kid has a nose for the ball and finds himself making tackles when it counts. Not saying he hasn't been burned for some TD's either, but that's to be expected from a RS Freshman, not a pre-season all Big Sky senior.

Are you saying Sandry has more tackles than Yamen because he's from Bigfork? I don't really get what difference it makes where he's from. All Griz are Griz, and all are Missoulians while they're here. Not to mention, you seem very supportive of Justin Strong, and he's not from Bigfork, or Montana. Just not really sure why it matters where they're from.

Also, since it seems Montana-born is so important to you, maybe you'd be interested to know that it is indeed a coach, from MONTANA, that is setting the lineup for the safeties, and Semore trusts that coach, who is from MONTANA, and played for the Griz, to make the right calls on starters and subs. So, is that Montana-born coach and Griz' legend wrong?

??? All he said was "the Bigfork kid".

Grizup, my bad, my apologies, I've just always been a little touchy on here about posters pitting Montana-born kids against out-of-state kids and so on. I jumped the gun on your post. Sorry.

Strong is our best safety currently. Followed by Sanders and Sandry. Sanders has the potential to be the best. Still seems rusty. I go with sanders and strong and be thankful to have a great backup to them both.

Ha! My thoughts exactly.

Lol. One of them damn near ran a 5 flat 40 on his pro day. Go figure.....

Well then he really must have sucked during his time here.

Hermanson
Whitted
McCord
Wilson
Anderson
Schillinger
Harris
Now add Strong, Sandry and Sanders...
That's all in the last 10 years. I'd say we've done just fine at that position.

Not a problem at all havgriz. I appreciate the discussion and input...it's not a bad problem to have when you don't see a major drop-off in play from your pre-season All Big Sky pick to a RS freshman. Can't wait until Sanders is healthy, Strong is back from the suspension, and Sandry and Williams can find themselves in the rotation. Things are looking bright at the safety spot, especially with Gavin in the mix as well.
