Stop complaining about the OL and give them some love

And yet lost via the triple option wofford terriers and a missed field goal at the buzzer by their nfl bound kicker. Kinda my case in point. Teams can win and lose via a variety of ways. Our o line is serviceable, and fixating on their perceived short comings is šŸ¤“ nerd alert fan behavior.
Why not talk about their strength and how they've protected the pocket well, are top 3 in conference in rushing attack, and are an improved group from last year? Last year they did struggle, especially down the stretch. Our rushing attack is vastly improved from last season.

Why would anyone focus on what is working and not what needs to be fixed? You should always put more attention on what needs to be fixed or accept mediocrity like so many of you have
Holy shit. 🤣 what in the hell are you, particularly you, going to do to fix mid season on the college football team. Awesome stuff here. Classic šŸ¤£šŸ¤£šŸ¤“

Here’s my opinion on the OL. I think some of the younger guys like Amick and Freitas should be starting over Johnson and Matan. Amick got his chance on Saturday and I thought he already looked better than Johnson. Matan I really don’t understand. Didn’t he start a handful of games at NC State? How is he struggling as much as he is? I don’t get it. Get Botner on the right side for extra assistance.

The OL should look like this:
Panfiloff, Brown, Klimczak, Freitas, Amick

That’s what I would go with.

So why fixate on the one position group that isnt the number one? Isn't it more fun to discuss things that are the best? It'd be like if I spent my energy on the financial planning concepts that I thought were not as great all day, but I could talk about the plans that are successful but chose not to. It truly doesn't make sense to me. Pods and mental time is being consummed by a decent position group but perhaps not the best aspect of the team, when we could be talking about the successes of which position groups are then truly responsible for being the #1 offense in the conference.
So you would rather talk about everything great and ignore weaknesses. Boring! That makes absolutely no sense. No team or organization uses that recipe to grow, proposer and win. Imagine Apple if they just focused on everything they were doing well. Constructive criticism (not all on Egriz is) is essential for getting better. I assume the coaches focus on the positive and identify weaknesses. Then they coach to it. Fans on a board talking about perceived weaknesses is part of the purpose of a fan board. Lastly, if you are married - try telling your wife all the things you kick ass at and that’s what she needs to focus on. I am sure that will work out great for you! By the way, I certainly am no expert on football or marriage. I respect that your opinion is different. I just happen to disagree with it.

The pass protection has improved. Several posters agree with that. Top 3 in the conference with the running backs and passing game the Griz have doesn’t add up. The BSC is weak. There are three BSC teams in the top 6. We haven’t even played the #5 and #6 teams in the nation, who are in the BSC. Shouldn’t the measure be at least top 2 in a weak league? Our rushing attack doesn’t look vastly improved. Multiple easy games at home and the Griz played one top 10 team. (2 if you count Idaho when they played them. Idaho isn’t even a top 25 team). The rushing yardage should look good. Griz couldn’t even get one yard last week on 4th down. How much improved is that?

I was just wondering, since OL proficiency is being debated, here, just how many offside penalties has there been called on the Griz OL so far this season? How many illegal procedure calls? How many holding penalties has there been called on the Griz? How many personal fouls called on the Griz OL, as well?

Grading might be nice for armchair QBs, but name me one offensive tackle, in the NFL for instance, that could have taken on Lawrence Taylor (that played for the New York Giants from 1981 to 1993), one on one? All lot depends on matchups, as well; wouldn't ya think?

I always find it interesting that some on the board try to downplay or degrade the opinions of others based on their experience as a player, who they know in coaching or the players they talk to. (Or a lack thereof) If you listen to any three coaches having a beer together, there will be a ton of disagreement. In the case of the Griz, what is it going to take to win a natty? That’s the real question right now. Bobby Hauck has climbed every mountain, but he hasn’t planted the national championship flag. Until he does and even after, prepare for concerns about his teams, criticism and debate. The o line and 3-3-5 are easy targets based on what you stated. Opinions of numerous posters watching the games and making general observations. Win the natty Bobby and silence the doubters and discourse. How lucky are Griz fans that there is so much discussion on the board, fan support and frustration. I would like to see more people post and think the snarky experts on the board actually decrease discussion. That is unfortunate.
This is an excellent post. I believe we would have been champs if the turf in Chattanooga didn't rip up. That was Bobby's hurtful loss. We have been close. We may have the horses this year to make a solid run. The potential is there. One of this year's appreciation goes to Bobby for blending transfers, recruits, returners, and walk-ons into a strong team. He has rotated many players. It has been a hell of a coaching job. One returner on defense and our best defensive guy left for AZ. I think our defense is 3rd rated in the Big Sky. We are 7-0. Sac St. game will determine a lot. Friday night is important in many ways.

Thanks again for your post.

Wow those are low OL grades!

Most of those guys wouldn't start on any other program than Montana.

Lines make winners. Great lines make everyone better. Doesn't matter what QB or RB you have if the line isn't doing there job they will never look good.

Great lines get rings, trust me I k ow a thing or two about a thing or 10

If you listen to ALL the content, I spend the majority of my time talking about the positive aspects of the Griz. We did 1/3 of the show this week with Brooks about how the Griz have three bonafide Walter Payton Award candidates (Gillman, Ah Yat, Wortham) - how fun!

We've also done deep dives on Ah Yat's progress, my obsession with Evan Shafer, the fact that this is the most fun Griz season I can remember since I was in college, the fact that Wortham is an all-time Griz already, the fact that Gillman is threatening the baddest MoFo I've ever known in Lex Hilliard ....and on and on.

Don't lump us in with the Griz Fan Pod nerds ;)
Colter……your assessment of the O line has been spot on.

Thank you Colter and Andrew for saying exactly what needs to be said about the O-Line. Also for coming on Egriz . Putting some of these posters in their place has made me laugh so much I damm near spit my wine right on the dinner table . (y) (y)

"What needs to be said" might be the dumbest thing I've ever heard.

Bullshit. ^^this guy is the biggest troll on egriz and that’s really saying something. Pickle ain’t got nothing on him. It’s literally his business model. How do you drive clicks from Griz fans? Easy—talk shit about them and The Griz. Haley and Herder have been doing it for years. So does he.
^^this guy advertises a pod to investigate MSdui but flips the script to say Griz fans have a loser mentality. He hires a Bozeman native to ā€œtalk Schmidtā€ about the Griz with extreme negativity and a back ground that says ā€œcontroversy creates cashā€. They are not even trying to hide it anymore.
He literally thinks choach is the greatest bsc coach ever even tho choach barely had a winning record and benefited from the worst period of modern Griz football and is now the definition of the Peter principle. Don’t believe he’s a troll? How do you drive clicks from bubcat fans? Well, it’s basically the opposite of The Griz model. They are so insecure, you have to constantly tell them how awesome they are which is exactly what he does. He hired tom stuber for fuck’s sake. And they fawn over the bubs, nothing is ever wrong, but The Griz are never good enough. That’s what trolls do—say dumb shit to get attention.

I don't agree. There's nothing wrong with people who understand the game and know the coaches to point out incorrect statements and posts of others. That's part of the way posters learn what's actually going on. Posting isn't an everyone-gets-a-ribbon thing, in my view. And, I have talked frequently to coaches and had beers with them over the years, and they rarely don't agree with each other. There certainly isn't a "ton of disagreement". Of course, they do disagree at times.

I also don't like negative comments from people who act like they know what they are talking about, when they clearly don't.

I like to support the team and players, and don't like posters, especially ones who clearly don't know what they are talking about, unfairly dissing players or coaches. My goal is to limit "discussion" and comments that unfairly criticize players and coaches. Many experts on the board are not snarky. That sounds like a comment that a non-expert would make.

Years ago, Joe Glenn came over to me in a bar and introduced himself. Said he had heard I was Green26 and just wanted to say thanks for supporting and sticking up for the team. After the season, I got a National Championship poster sent to me, which had been signed a bunch of people, with many of them addressing their signature to Green26. I liked that.

Those PFF scores are not meaningless. They show where improvement is needed and how teams compare with each other, and how players on the same team compare. The coaches may do a better scoring, but that doesn't mean the PFF scores are meaningless!!
PFF are notoriously not accurate. The analysts sometimes don't know what the player was supposed to do and what happened on the play.

Great post. Here’s a perfect example…about a month ago I posted that I would like to see our defensive line play with more physicality in preparation for the challenges they will most definitely see during a deep run in the playoffs. I was immediately called out by a guy who tried to diminish my point of view (which is shared by many) because in his mind he’s positive he’s the smartest guy on the board. I had no idea who he was until he felt compelled to publish his resume which was questionable at best. This guy is a master of creating a narrative and then supporting it with confirmation bias without ever demonstrating an actual football IQ. Instead of allowing a new participant to voice an opinion he decides he to make crazy accusations about me being some guy that he had somehow run off the site. Unbelievable. Anyone can go read the posts I’ve made and see that I have not been critical of the program so I have no idea why this guy feels he has to flex up on me but I see him do it to others posters incessantly and I’m not sure why it’s tolerated. I’m going to go back to ignoring him now but I appreciate your post.
You are clueless about football and Griz football.
