The three years before Hauck came in there was a national championship, a championship game loss and 6 total losses. The three years before Stitt no championships and 14 total losses and scholarship restrictions.

How do explain JMU, South Dakota or Southern Utah by this logic?

I am not arguing for or against either coach. Personally do not know Bob Stitt. Coached both with and against Bobby. Great respect for him. Statement was made about comparisons to situations and they were different coming in. As for your question above, JMU, brought in a lot of drop downs from their area which does not always work but did for them.

Bobby also coached in the BSC when it was the weakest it had ever been since the 1-AA formed. I can't believe people still need this explained to them.

Hey AG, that's shallow thinking. Even if the BSC was weak, as you suggest, how do you explain Hauck's suceess outside the BSC. How many BSC coaches have been to 3 Natty's? As his record suggests, Hauck's teams were dominating. He was a masterful tactician. As they say, either get better, get out, or move on down. Perhaps that's what Rob Spear said to his coaches.

I think it was the Bowl Championship Series. I don't think Hauck ever coached in a BCS bowl at UNLV because of East Coast bias or something.
