So is it possible that Ty was retained with the intention that he would be a one and done? That he was retained to provide some continuity to the recruits and the players? That nothing nefarious went on. It was kind of looked at to be a mentorship role to Semore. That the plan was for him to gradually take over the D and then become the new DC this year? I wonder if there is something similar happening with the coaches retained by Choate. Is there some sort of agreement where they stay a year for that continuity but it is under the realization that it will be a year thing and then they will look elsewhere. Is that the reason for the switch from a D-line coach to a TE coach?

Since you guys are in the business of disparaging nicknames for our coaches, I think we ought to nickname Mr. Semore, Mr. Butts. Semore....Semore Butts. Yeah, not too original, but I like it.

How about Semore Wins

Come on. I expect better than that from you. You can get more creative than that. How bout Semore points allowed than ever?

Really, though. I am curious about the first part of my post.

Hard to say unless you were one of the two guys i guess, I have an idea that when Stitt got here he knew he would not be keeping Ty, but thought a year under his system just to get the little things and aquantances that go into coaching may be good for Semore? I think I probably would have done the same thing, new coach, enough shaking things up in the first year, keep Ty a year to ease the transition, total clean slate to begin 2016.

So, you feel good about Gregorak leaving then? Stitt feels great, Ty feels great, and Semore feels great...and you feel great! Great!!!

ahh watching Ty's press conference, seemed he doesn't feel great to me....never seen a coach talk so much about the last school he was at and how much he loved it etc. For a second thought he might break down and cry, or take some antidepressants at least.

People like you make people like Justin Green nervous.

As "press conferences" go, it was an interesting contrast to the awkwardness and stiffness of Choate's first press conference.

You can see why players like Ty, he talks like a human being and not a pre-canned press release or a "made-for-TV movie coach speech." Ask a question, you get a straight answer. Ask him what he thinks and he'll tell you what he thinks, not what he wants you to think. There's not a lot of filtering going on there, which has an upside and a downside.

I meant as far as a top dog clean slate...Green probably has a job here as long as he wants it.

Stitt's latest interview on this topic......and there it is:

Stitt feels the same way about new defensive coordinator Jason Semore, who last year worked in tandem with Ty Gregorak as the DC. Gregorak took the defensive coordinator job with Montana State and new head coach Jeff Choate.

“Toward the end of the season, Jason did most of the game-planning. And that’s when we really started playing great defense and stopping the run,” Stitt said. “It’s exciting for him now to game plan and call the game. It was tough to have someone call the game that wasn’t doing the game plan. It just didn’t mesh all that well. “

Jack will still call bullstitt!

Whew.

Great.

That settles it.

I'm sure we won't hear any more on the subject in the subsequent posts in this thread.

I'm positive those who were wrong will admit such, offer a firm handshake, and move on.

I'd feel "great" if you could ooze on over to the Scat board and calculate how you are going to get to 3 wins. (D1) I always feel "great" when I compare maroon and silver to "team sewage pond". Seriously, don't you feel a liiiiiitle pathetic?... :egriz: Victory for you is if we let you simply compare the turd divers to maroon and silver  so yeah..."great".

Wow, I have to say that is pretty good stuff, RRG. Well done.

No way! PR told me I was wrong when I said this occurred...

Forgot another one of the staff. Mike Ferriter also is from some of our best years and is coaching on this staff.
And Green....and Germer.

Reece Phillips commented on this and has coaching aspirations and was told by his coaches Montana has a reputation for hiring players from the program as coaches.

So too does MSU! Maybe more than UM. Last year, Ioane, Rider, Owens, Kempt were all former players on the coaching staff. Soooooo, be careful what you listen to. Nice he chose Um, but the coolaide goes down pretty easily.

The difference is the Griz coaches come from a successful program with a history of winning unlike lil bro.

Actually, what you said was that TG wasn't coordinating the defense, and that was not not accurate. Here is your quote: "Word is Ty was not coordinating the defense the last 4 weeks". While Semore became more active in game-planning, and multiple people including myself also said that, TG continued to be the coordinator, called the plays and had not been replaced as the coordinator. You and others who said TG had been relieved of coordinator duties were wrong. Most of what you post is wrong.

Without intending to comment on whether UM started stopping the run better later in the season or not, here are some stats. Through the PSU game, UM had its 2 best stop-the-run games and 3 of it's best 4 (78, 79 and 105). While PSU ran over UM, PSU actually had 48 yards less than their season average. In the NDSU playoff game, NDSU had more running yards than in the first game of the season. In the other 4 games after PSU, UM heldd those team to under their season averages by 9, 29, 26 and 22 yards. But for the 35 yard loss on the last play of OT, ISU would have gained more than its season average by 24 yards.

Good point on your stats but how do you feel about Stitt implying that the run D improved so much after Seymore took over the game planing duties? Stitt's comments seem to be a less than flattering back hand of TG. That can't sit with you very well....
