His offense didn't work at the FCS level and I highly doubt it will work at the FBS level. Defenses can figure out how to stop 1 formation and 10 plays pretty easy.

His offense is being incorporated into the NFL now, and multiple FBS schools use parts of it. And our offense was one of the best in the Big Sky last year, you must have it confused with Hauck's this year.

Offense wasn't the issue...he needed to make changes on the defensive side of the ball, and special teams. He was a very good offensive coordinator for the Griz and he will be very good in this role for Texas State. Hope they can play some defense...

According to NCAA stats, Okie State was #10 in all of FBS in Total Offense (just over 500 ypg). But they finished 6-6 (bowl eligible, and I believe they are in one). Trouble? They were #99 in Total Defense. Oopss.

You said "His offense didn't work"...nothing about the defense.

It was more than making changes. He had to recognize at this level how important defense and special teams are. He gave them very poor priority. It was all about his offense. And there were weaknesses in his offense. How often could they get a yard when they needed a yard? Not often enough.

Ironically, his offense may have been something special with Sneed running it.

This is the statement that seals the deal. We all knew what the problems were, but this explains the why! At D2, if you have a dominant unit on either side of the ball you will win games. D1 is a bit different. yes you will win games, but you will also go against teams with the skills to match up/out man you at times. Good example of this is the Notre Dame team that played for the national title against alabama in 2012? They were undefeated, yes. All on the back of their defense. When they played a very good alabama team that could score on the defense, plus made it look easy on defense against their inept offense, you have a national championship blow out. I've seen a lot of very good D2 football over the years. Winning programs honestly only need 1 side of the ball to do well into the playoffs. It's really not until the final 4 of the playoff where the teams that have all 3 aspects, are truly separated

Bob Stitt has a mad scientist mentality and loves the offensive side of football. He was made to be an offensive coordinator. He didn’t value the importance of defense and special teams. More importantly, Bob didn’t handle the PR side of being head coach at this level. At public events he just wanted to go back to his corner and write plays on the back of napkins instead of working the donors and fans. This might have been his greatest failure.

This

and he was too experimental/extreme with the defensive scheme.... and needed a better offensive line.

Good post. Should’ve learned to play the piano.
