The only comparison I made to Kupp was that JLM had as many catches per game is Kupp did. End of story. No one said he was Cooper Kupp, or equivalent to him, or anything even remotely resembling that. All I said was, that, at least as far as in the slot, I'm perfectly happy to have JLM any day. Would I have wanted to have Cooper Kupp as a Griz? Of course. Anybody would.

I did take exception to the statement that JLM plays only because he can run. Tell that to all the defensive coordinators in the Big Sky who stayed up late nights trying to figure out how to stop him. MSU succeeded; many others did not.

Yes he can.

Against undersized secondary guys, maybe he can. If you expect to see him going up in traffic against big corners and safeties, I don't see it happening. Don't the Griz open with UW next year? That'll be a good test for how he plays against a big, aggressive secondary. Keep in mind, the last few times Eastern has gone up against UW's secondary, the receivers dominated the game. Unfortunately, we turned the ball over too much and couldn't make defensive stops.

We will see. Much of that depends on the QB situation next season. Suffice it to say that I don't hold out much hope for that game, let alone the season. I will be taking the wait-and-see approach.

Saying JLM is in the same class as Kupp is saying that he's the best UM receiver of all time...I can think of three - four or FIVE off the top of my head & he doesnt hold a candle to any of them! Get real JLM is a solid FCS receiver but he's not even in my top five Griz receivers of all time & please dont refer me to his stats to figure it out.

First, no one said that and second it's hard to tell where he'll end up three years from now on the list of great receivers or if he will be on the list at all.

This post is just to dumb to answer but I'm a glutten for punishment so here goes
1) slot receivers are usually covered by LBers, not corners. The point is to create a mismatch in speed and quickness
2) if you think that EWU would've stuck with this years UW team you're delusional

Never mind, Rob, they're on a roll. ;)

And, not that this proves that he's an all-time greatest Griz receiver, but somebody please point me to another Griz freshman receiver who had 73 receptions and over 650 yards receiving. As they say, I'll take your answer off the air. Oops, I used stats. Sorry, they're pretty good for a freshman--like maybe the best ever at UM. Oh, yeah, did I mention that he achieved this in only 8 games?

I'm thinking that as he matures there's a good chance that he will get even better. Lots of players do. Can't wait to find out.
