Stitt on Strahm Suspension

Connor's a member of our football team, (and) there's definitely going to be consequences with his actions,” Stitt said. “That was the first adversity that we faced of the year. We weren't planning on that and we don't expect any more. We're gonna rally around him and he's gonna have some consequences and the team's really gonna support him.

Seems like a weird response for a guy who blew three times the legal limit.

Agree. Why rally and support a kid who made a horrible decision that could have killed someone? Honestly a strange thing for Stitt to say.

So under this assumption, I assume if you had a son or daughter that was in this position you would also not rally behind them? The situations aren't all that different.

Are you as concerned about texting/driving and excessive speeding. Those things also kill people. Some studies say texting/driving is worse than drinking/driving.

Some stats. 28 people died per day from drunk driving in 2014. This included drivers who were killed in the crashes. Everyday 300,000 people driving drunk, according to FBI stats in 2012. (Only 4,000 get caught).

Dividing 28 by 300,000, that equals .0000933.

Thus, the chances of a drunk driver actually killing someone is incredibly small. That doesn't justify drunk driving. However, it does show that your justification for crucifying a player with a dui because he might have killed someone, borders on being silly. Drunk driving is against the law. There are good reasons that it is. But, consider keeping it in perspective. Drunk driving does not equal killing someone. It merely increases the chances of killing someone by some very small amount.

The odds of being struck by lightning in your lifetime is 1/13,500. That is .00007407.

I realize that I am not comparing apples to apples.

I have read everything on this post, and I know you were all waiting for a Bobcat fan to chyme in...So here you go

1) Stitt is handling this just fine. It is really none of our business what the punishment is.

2) There are actually differences in charges for blowing higher than normal (Aggravated DUI) and it comes with longer jail time, and higher fines. I don't know the number you need to blow, but he might be close to that.

3)This situation is totally different than the one in MSU...SAYING THAT...both coaches handled it the way they should

4)The real issue here is....Seat-belts, texting, and can he kick...

"gonna rally around him and support him". Did Strahm just lose a loved one or did he f*** up?

The coach is working hard to have very good team unity and cohesiveness, have everyone support each other, avoid divisiveness and selfishness, be able to withstand adversity, and win tough games and road games. With a good kid who hasn't screwed up before, and accepts that he goofed up and will have consequences, why wouldn't the team and coaches support the kid?

He will get his punishment and I assume it is occurring now. He will get his game suspension(s). More than one (10% of games under the athletic code), but probably not three, would be my guess.

Strahm is apparently a good kid, maybe a very good kid, from what I understand.

Sure. But I don't know why Stitt didn't just say he will be suspended for the first two games and be done with it. Seems like a pretty obvious situation - he blew three times the legal limit. It's a done deal. Announce his punishment (according to Stitt and the team) and move on from it.

Give it a rest. Have you posted one positive thing about Stitt or the program in the last 12 months? Seems like you are trolling. Stitt will hand out the appropriate punishment. Just like Choate did.

Don't be soft. And this is the opposite of how Choqte handled it.

Tootel and Nuanez were talking about it on 102.9 today.
I agree with Copper Griz. You fight with everyone and one your one of the most negative people on egriz and maroonblood. Your kinda like growler to a certain extent. Let's see if you can say one positive about the griz or Stitt. Go.

Just call it like I see it.

Want something positive? I think Bob is smart for starting Josh Sandry. He's no Yamen Sanders, but he's pretty good.... Good move by Coach Stitt.

Maybe he already did and it is none of our business.

100% agree - it is between coach, player and team and our opinion doesn't matter in the least. I haven't been a big Stitt supporter up to now but I find his comments from yesterday totally rational and in line with what I would expect a seasoned coach to say. If some disagree with that it is really going to be a long picky-ass season for you. We should move on. I'm willing to say I may have been wrong about Stitt. I am really liking what I see in the potential for this team.

Yamen Sanders is a physical freak but Josh Sandry is a much better player. Montana's defense will make strides this year for that reason alone.

Sanders played out of position, primarily because there wasn't a load of depth, and IMO really didn't have the speed & cover skills necessary to play safety effectively. I think he should have been moved to linebacker, someplace he could have competed @ and perhaps been a more attractive pro prospect.

Sanders had every natural gift of athletic ability someone could ask for in a safety and more....he however did not have the mind for the position.

I dont know if I've ever seen a safety be more consistent in taking horrible angles.

Right. I was being sarcastic.

It was a huge mistake to play Sanders over Sandry. Said it then and believe it even moreso now.

I think this is definitely the case. As I said before, I'm sure he will be throwing up quite a bit, and not from alcohol consumption. I've seen players get "in trouble" when I played, and, yes, there is a lot of running...a lot...

Holy hello. Arm chair coaches, quarterbacks and executioners out in full force. What was the punishment again? Oh that's right. We don't know a damn thing yet. Shut the hell ip and let the coaching staff deal with it. God forbid the team rally around one of their own during a time of trial and tribulation. Jack wipes.
Right on.
