Stitt today, "When you become a head coach of a team you need to act like a head coach."

It was the last question of their presser today. Phen's post game press conference he brought up a PAT or fieldgoal where his star LB accused the Griz blocking unit of playing dirty. Stitt reported that he was frustrated to hear that accusation so the first thing he did was go back to the game film and watch the specific play. He reported that the ISU linebacker actually rushed and hit the Griz player low on the play which wound up with him being face down on the ground. Meanwhile another ISU player, after the whistle, bowls over Conlan Beaver and falls to the ground in the process and lands on his own guys arm - hurting him.

Had a few other things to say, basically that he doesn't run a team like that and they do the right things. Furthermore the Griz won the game, and they're moving on.

Well done by Stitt, handled it like a grown up and putting it down n the rear view mirror. Don't expect the fans to be so forgiving, however!

Perfect response. I love every bit of it. Phen, whether he was trying to be funny or not, was an absolute ass hat before the game with that interview. It didn't come off well at all. Then he was an ass hat after the game with his whiny comments. That's a lot of ass hat in one day. I think this Stitt response to all of it was perfectly stated. I'm starting to like this Stitt guy more each day.

We're just not used to there being an adult in charge. :lol:

In the spirit of "moving on" -- just watched a bit of Phen on the local news. He's at it again, moving on to their next opponent. The Sac State QB (Kevin Thompson) is a drop-down from UNLV, and was there for at least a year while Phen was coaching and/or recruiting for them. To hear Phen tell it, Thompson is practically the second coming of Aaron Rodgers or Cam Newton.

If you don't think trash talk is part of the game argh I'd suggest you take up a different sport to follow... maybe not sports at all.

If you don't think trash talk is part of the game argh I'd suggest you take up a different sport to follow... maybe not sports at all.

Better stay away from golf and bowling too. I have been in very competitive leagues for both and at times the talk can get trashy. The most subtle things seem to work the best, like "how tightly do you grip your driver?" or "do you inhale or exhale when you start your approach". The goal is to get the brain switched on when the body needs to be in autopilot. Even when you know what the other person is trying to do it can knock you off balance. Is it right? Debatable but it can really be effective. I don't participate or encourage it but I understand the goal of others doing it. You just gotta learn to be mentally tougher.
