I LOLed at this thread. How could have Stitt won us this game?
By running an offense that uses fullbacks and tight ends.
Well Hell, why don't we go back to the single wing while we're at it?
First of all, system has little to do with injuries. They happen. Some teams get hit with a blizzard, whether they're play pro-set, hurry up, or any damn thing. Shit (not Stitt) happens.
The opening win against what looks like it really is a pretty good NDSU team gave some people delusions of grandeur. New system, new coach, not one "soft" game to get adjusted ... I'd say the Griz the Griz have done well to win one, come close in another, and at least come back after getting down 17 points early.
And don't give me that crap about rose-colored glasses. How many new coaches, with a new system (if it's at all different from the coach he replaced) and no real chance to recruit players to fit that system is going to do great, right out of the box? Damn few, if any. Just look what's happening to Bohl at Wyoming.
On top of everything, the Griz O-line is still having trouble getting it done. Does that have anything to do with Stitt? I don't think so ... he can't turn that around overnight.
Yes, I'm disappointed that the Griz have not done better. But given the schedule and everything else, we should be glad the Griz are not 0-3. (Small consolation ... but there it is.)
