Aren't we ranked #8 in both?
We sure are. For some reason, when I clicked on the link I got the old poll. Weird.

Oh well, what I meant was I thought a rank of 12-14 was about right for the Griz. But it's nice that the two polls agree with putting the Griz in the top ten.

On another level, I'm a bit surprised that Portland State and Fordham did not move up more -- would have thought their FBS upsets would have bought them a bit more love. And what about poor UND? Sure, Wyoming may not be very good, but you'd think North Dakota would at least make it into the bottom of the poll.

Just shows why we want to always take the polls with a grain of salt, especially this early in the season.

I think the NDSU game showed we could be 8 th best in FCS. Think the CP game showed we could be 20th best, maybe. Next two games will show which is correct. We beat Liberty and NAU, could be a legit top 10 team with one bad game. Lose both, drop out of top 20. Split and we could be ranked in the teens someplace.

I think the NDSU game showed we could be #1, while the Poly game showed we could be worse than 25th.

Just about the two most opposite performances we've had in consecutive weeks that I can remember.

I don't know what will happen this season, but if the Griz play mistake free football, I think they're a legit top 5 team.

Based on a large body of work a strong case for NDSU in at least top five can be made. I personally have my doubts as to whether 2015 buffs are NC goods. I think this year their MVC bubble gets burst. Their conference continues to be very talented and several teams have what it takes to beat them. They will still make post season but it ends earlier for them.

As per our guys, the proof is still out there. A win versus Liberty will go a long way but looming are the NAU jacks. A rating 8 or higher on October 1st will mean a lot more. I am still not sold on the new offense, but am willing to see if it develops. Just a hunch that good D coordinators will have containment schemes in place down the road once they see several game films. I still like the old school approach, balanced football I guess.

CP in my view is a very good team, they have great athletes and a system that IS who they are. A brutal schedule like ours will test their mettle. Still early but they do deserve a higher rank.

BSC schedule for us holds no gimmmes! Especially noting psu and UND fbs victories. Weber may be better than we think too. Nothing easy now......not the old conference with teams that appeared to be breathers. I think we are on par with MVC or at least within striking distance. Come October we should know a lot more.

You may know a lot more a week from Saturday. Watched much of the Liberty game on E3 and they looked pretty good. The All-Am wide out gave Del State fits, and their QB was sharp. Their O-line was a little hit/miss - not unlike ours, and their D is pretty fast all around. Another dog fight, that we're fortunate to have time to prepare and heal up for. Would be great to come away with a W, given what we saw with the BSC over the weekend.

We may know a bit more, in a different way, after next weekend.

Liberty did look pretty good. But let's keep in mind that Delaware State is a team that went 2-10 last year and has averaged a 4-7 record over the past five years ... against weak MEAC competition. So they ain't much good.

Unfortunately, the Liberty game coming up may not help because it's likely to go the other way. West Virginia man-handled (44-0 score) what is supposed to be a pretty good Ga Southern team. They are likely to do the same to Liberty. BUT ... if Liberty gives WVA a tussle, then we'll know the Griz might be in trouble on the road.
