STATS FCS Poll, Sept 23 (Griz #8)

As expected the Griz moved up one spot, while Villanova only dropped one after their loss to Maryland, Some other surprises, but for me the biggest was how far down (10 spots!) they hammered Southern Illinois after their loss to ranked (#21) SE Missouri. I think we’re all glad to see they did drop Northern Iowa out of the Top-25.

If I was North Dakota and had JUST beaten the Griz two weeks earlier, I would be fuming.
I get it, and in the past would've been upset if the shoe were on the other foot, but I have recently just accepted that polls before the last few weeks of the season are completely unimportant. Getting into the minutia of results this early is just a recipe for frustration.

We went #13->#12->#13->#18->#17->#16->#9->#7->#4->#3->#3->#2 last season, and getting upset at any point before those last 3 weeks would've been a huge waste of time.

If UND is a better team, they will show it. If we are actually a top 4 team, we will show it, just like last year (or in years past when our path was kind of the opposite lol).

These polls are essentially worthless fun, at this point.

yes, they are worthless...it's the disparate treatment that kills me. We beat Morehead St. like a rented mule and DROP. MSU beats Mercyhurst, but not as bad as we won, and they DON'T drop.

Make it make sense?

It's simple. SIU beat then #12 Incarnate Word, which the voters thought was worth bumping them up ahead of us. It had nothing to do with our performance.

Both of those teams now are clearly not that good, but this is why it makes no sense to get upset about polls this early. I thought Idaho should've jumped the cats, but it's really not that egregious.

Why do people equate having a conversation to "being upset"?

I'm upset that my FUCKING WATER BILL at the lake was $5,700 this month. THAT makes me upset...

This is just a discussion about pollsters' stupidity...

Okay, fair.

I don't think it's stupid, unless we're talking about the concept of having a poll at all right now.

To me, it makes complete sense why no one has moved ahead of the cats, but other teams have moved ahead of us. It has everything to do with what other teams are doing. It's not a double standard at all.

There are dates of impactful games R/T moving up or down in any poll, as of today:

Sept. 28 Idaho @ Davis
Oct. 5 North Dakota @ NDSU
Oct. 12 Idaho @ scats
Oct. 19 SDSU @ NDSU
OCT. 26 South Dakota @ SDSU
Nov. 9 SDSU @ North Dakota
Davis @ Griz
Nov. 23 NDSU @ South Dakota
aaand.....
Griz @ scats

In the mean time, Griz players AND coaches need to UP THEIR GAME and not count on others misfortunes. They take care of what they control, they control their own future. Profound, eh?😱
