Poll is up in Haley's usual format. UC Davis now in the top-10 and Sac State just out (#11).

There is just no explanation that justifies SacSt being below Davis, who lost to ISU, their only win of the year, and just gave up 625 yards to EWU in a beatdown. It could pass muster if SacSt was ahead of UM, since they beat us here. SacSt's losses are to FBS Cal and UNI. SacSt will likely crush Davis this week and still get no love.

As someone said on another thread ... Sac state is the anti-UNI.

I have to admit, Northern Iowa was one of my two big misses among my guesses (most of which were spot on or pretty good). I figured the pollsters would allow UNI to stay in the top-25, and they didn't. Of course, they're only 12 points below #25. At least I can say I would have put Stephen F. Austin in as a replacement ... which the pollsters did.

My other big miss was how much SDSU would drop. My thought was that such a flukey loss would drop them maybe three spots. Instead, the pollsters crushed them down eight spots. That's more than they usually drop a ranked team that loses to an unranked opponent. The only thing I can figure is that their (7-3) record just didn't fit in the top-10. As an aside, I just realized that SDSU better win this coming weekend (they have North Dakota at home) ... otherwise, they will only have 6 Division-I wins. Their decisive upset of Colorado State might not be enough to offset one win at the D-II level.

Sac State's ranking is so wrong. I imagine part of it is based non "history" - and partly on the issue that the voters can't see that far west. We will see what happens after they destroy Davis on Saturday.

You could be right but I just don't believe Sac State will crush UC Davis. For years Davis has killed them in head to head recruiting and on the field. They look at Sac as the commuter school and ugly step child. They will bring their A game against Sac State, especially at home, they always do.

Davis has yet to beat a Troy Taylor team and the team I watched get destroyed by EWU at home doesn't look like the team to do it. Their defense was exposed, while SacSt buried a surging PSU team. There is a new sheriff in town in Sac; UCal snobbery is not going to go very far. At least as long as SacSt can retain Taylor.
