Parker wasn’t even here. How much more wrong could you be. Whitney played the most minutes out of anybody last night. The 2 guards who carried the minutes load weren’t even here last year. Might want to try again.

Actually, Parker started and played 21 minutes. He scored 4 in 2-7 shooting and has 2 assists. Pretty good for not even being there.

Egun started the first half, and Falls started over him last year. Vasquez started the second half, and Falls started over him last year.

Neither was here LAST YEAR. Obviously they were there last night captain obvious. Whitney played north of 35 minutes and dropped 17 points on USC in his first game as a college athlete. And he was MORE than capable defensively. Obviously Falls would be useful, but don’t go acting like we didn’t get a major player as his replacement. I’m sorry, but even if Falls were here, Whitney would be starting. Whether you care to admit it or not.

Btw, I said they didn’t play LAST YEAR. I watched the entire damn game of course I know parker played last NIGHT. He didn’t when Falls was here, and that’s all that’s relevant. The depth chart at PG appears to be Parker/Whitney as 1a/1b and Vazquez as 2. Whitney didn’t start, but he played the 2nd most minutes on the team, and checked in at the 18 minute mark. Egun won’t be starting above Satterwhite or Whitney as the year progresses. You know these things.....

Statistically, the difference in the game is very clear: USC had 43 rebounds to Montana's 29, USC scored 16 fastbreak (early O) points to Montana's 2, and USC shot 50% from the field to Montana's 34%. Otherwise stats are very comparable: Turnovers -- UM16, USC 15; Points in paint USC -- 32, UM -- 26; second chance points, UM 11, USC 8; Bench points, USC 33. Both teams shot an awful 61.5% from the free throw line and -- though foul numbers (24 USC to 29 UM) were not that far apart, shooting fouls sent USC to the line more.

There are other stats I think are important: Montana shot much closer as a team to 50% (like USC)... except for Cameron Satterwhite's 1-9/0-7 mark and Cameron Parker's 2-7 on drives to the bucket. I guess we'll soon see how/if Montana's perimeter shooting game shapes up. I agree with others who say that packing the interior on D has been a key to beating the Griz over the past several years.

The one factor that's hard to discern from last night was Montana's second half improvement on defense. They'll only get better on D. This is a very young team that got its first live action taste of the speed of college ball. I think they reacted well in the second half. This is going to be a fun team to watch. Individually: Steadman and DJ had tough matchups and I look for them to rebound well; Whitney, Bannan and Owens really stood out at both ends of the floor to me while Vazquez played a monster second half on D. Go Griz.

Lots of breakdowns with team D and rotations in the first half led to an SC dunkfest. The Mobley pair are good passers out of double teams. Much better in half 2 so I agree 100% that the team D will get better with reps. Their size and no Henderson to help made for a tough slog inside. Lots of new blood with some obvious talent once they figure things out. Should be fun to see.

What I mean is that Falls would’ve been competing with Parker and Whitney for point guard minutes. Not Egun and Vazquez.
