Not the best game by Stanford and certainly not an indication that they can compete with UConn in any way shape or form.

Josyln may have had only 2 points, but they might have been the biggest 2 points she ever scored. They came with a little over a minute to play and tied the score. As for UCONN, who knows if they can play with them. I have seen Stanford play a dozen times this season and this was far and away their worst game. They actually led UCONN for a half when they played early this season, so they can play with them. Whether they will is anyone's guess. That is why they play the games. ;)

Wild ending. Similar to the Ohio State/Michigan game. How do you let her go the length of the court for a layup with 4.4 seconds left???

OR, how do you miss 2 point blank uncontested shots from 2 feet? Xavier gave this one to Stanford.

Just curious -- are the Tinkles in Sacramento to watch Stanford and Jos play? The announcers have talked about them, but they've not been shown in the crowd.

Too hard to make when you are not being guarded.... :shock:

I enjoyed watching that game. Tinkle definitely got some important minutes. Her score to tie it near the end was huge. The shot clock was about gone and you could tell it was up to her to make a play. She made nice drive and a big bucket. That one doesn't go in and the end of the game buzzer beater probably doesn't happen either.

what a memorable game. it'll always be the nightmare one girl will never wake up from, but there were several other incredible facets to it:
--the play call by the xavier coach was brilliant. passed it to his star post player, who then backed away from the basket while drawing two defenders, opening up that incredible opening right underneath the basket;
--stanford called time out with four seconds left. but on review they added a few tenths of a second, which seemed insignificant at the time, but was exactly the mini-time span necessary for the stanford gal to drive the length of the court and make that shot;
--after stanford got the ball, xavier had all five players press, leaving nobody to defend their own basket. this was a coaching blunder as huge as the last-shot call was brilliant, and one the color announcer was quick to point out. if i had been the xavier coach in the post-game interview, i would have stressed this blunder over and over again, as a way of protecting that broken-hearted senior who missed those bunnies;
--and finally, for us montana fans, as the game was coming down to its last intense few seconds, the announcer going off on a spiel about how joslyn was the daughter of wayne and leslie tinkle, and how wayne was the head coach at the university of montan--oh, there's a shot by xavier!!!!

That just sounds funny!! Tinkles!??

i agree that the xavier girl has got to be feeling awful. hopefully she can take some sort of solace knowing that it didn't matter, and they had no shot of winning a championship anyway. uconn is 100x better than anyone else in the field. as i type this they are beating fsu by 40 with 5 to play! they won't win a game by less than 20 the rest of the way.
