Stadium Expansion?

As much as I love hearing how loud Wa-Griz stadium gets at every home game, does anyone know if there is any talk or "tentative plan" to expand and add any more seats? Let's get to 30,000 baby!

There's a lot of infrastructure inside the stadium that needs fixed first. Like the press boxes.

Zero from my understanding.

I heard a long time ago that the next expansion would mirror the east side including new press boxes.

More, and improved/updated restrooms and concession. Absolutely upgraded Press boxes (circa 1995)

Really only seems to be an issue once every two years for the Griz/Cat game. Adding capacity seems ill-advised meaning more exposed aluminum for most of the season. Fix the press boxes and do some renovations on the restrooms!

There was a plan to extend the last expansion north and south of the sidelines, but it involved increasing student athletic fee revenue, which the student senate opposed.
The offer to students was that more seats would be made available to students, but the sideline seating for students would be replaced by season ticket seating. The students said no deal.

You fund it, they will build it. How deep are your pockets? Time flies, the original WGS was 12,000 seats, 37 YEARS AGO!

I think the next addition should be making the entrances improved and concessions/bathrooms.

But replacing the press boxes with like a double decker row of Glass press boxes. That would look really cool and keep the noise factor going essentially boxing up the stadium even more.

Improve the press boxes. And add in capacity for private boxes to sell to businesses. I’d even add a large capacity room that could hold events day for 50-100 people as part of the new boxes.

If you’ve attended the games with a female, it’s apparent that the deficiencies of women’s bathroom facilities needs to be addressed. The lines for the women’s bathrooms are incredibly long. My girlfriend missed the entire second quarter while waiting in the bathroom line. There’s really no excuse for this. Well, I’m sure there are excuses, but this is a much more ‘urgent’ need than expansion of seating.

I remember Haslam saying on the Inside the Den about a year ago that after they complete the IPF, the next item on the agenda is improvements to Wa-Griz. He said they wanted to expand club seating on the West side to mirror the East side, and then build a new press box that would sit on top of that. He said club seating makes the most money, and has the most demand as they don't have enough currently, and they badly need a new press box. It genuinely might be the worst press box in the conference, and that's saying something.

Admin is cautious about the risk of over-expansion, which has a negative impact on ticket pressure.

Some observations and suggestions:  Tongue in cheek.

Improve the press boxes. Hmmm....What press? Gone the way of the DoDo. Missoulian is gone, Tribune is gone. Just who is this 'press' some are so concerned about. They could watch it on TV or listen on the radio and write the same tripe they've been turning out. No travel expenses or travel time.
The bathrooms, here's a clue, don't drink 30 min. before game time. Worked for me. Eating is a different matter. Takes about four hours to transit from mouth to anus. The scat game was 3 hr 15 min. Take your dump AFTER the game. An accommodating tailgater could bring along a Port-A-Potty for his/her beer guzzling buds. Or, the University could provide a row of its own Port-A-Potties.
Those that can't seem to hold urine or feces shouldn't attend the games. Getting old has hiddend costs. Install a bathroom TV and refrigerator. You'd save lots of time thata way. There's always self-catheterization and wearing a leg bag. Proper sterile technique, of course. But, how many know how?....the incidence of urinary tract infections would skyrocket. Cost of catheter$, bag$, $terile K-Y, $terile Glove$, Doctor$ Office Vi$it, Med$....not a wise choice for a layman.

Its all moot anyway, no money to even properly staff the entrances from what I have read.

Have her identify as a man just for the game. The only downside is she will have to hover because all men seem to get back at their women, in the stadium, by refusing to lift the seat.

What this guy said. Nothing looks worse than empty seats. Increased demand will mean increases in prices, so they're going to do okay financially without the expansion.

What is the advantage to better press box? Not being a dick, just can’t see why dump money into nicer boxes for press. If for coaches, that should be the last thing they worry about on game day. More/better bathrooms seems a better way to spend the money after all those are for paying customers not employees being paid to be there.

If they triple decked the west side and one new row for fans to lease to help offset a 3rd row for press/coaches I could see it

My understanding is there are structural issues on the West side that limits what they can do. I don't think anything on that side would be to increase seating, but more increase the money making with things like boxes/club seats. I think the press box design would go hand in hand with adding some boxes.

From what Iv'e heard, the current one (at least how it looks now) badly needs updated due to the needs of TV / Streaming production. There is room for 4-5 people max, and then they'd need to stand at an angle to fit everyone in. No room for any of the necessary cords/cables/etc that is necessary for the production. Often, those are just laid on the floor and since there's no room, the commentators have to stand on them. Poor site lines. To see a play happening on the west sideline, they need to lean out a little and look down - which is tricky when there is barely room to stand to call the game.
