Spring ball?

As you know we got lucky being in the national championship
When the Grizzlies lose games, the narrative here is often that it was because they are out coached and out played, partly because they got out recruited. When the Griz win games, it is just lucky. Just lucky all the way to the best record in the Big Sky and VERY lucky number 2 seed in the nation. Lucky over team after team, including beating NDSU in the semis. Lucky because of the QB that was recruited her and an offensive playbook luckily redesigned itself around his skillset. Lucky that Junior Bergen closed his eyes and threw a dart at a map to see where he would play football, and it landed on Missoula. Lucky that Bergen returned the kicks when Bobby said "hey everybody, on these punt and kick returns, I just want you to close your eyes and run around out there, and see if we get lucky." All just pure, dumb luck.

But the teams that beat us are never lucky, no sir. They win via superiority. Very different strategy.

Griz just have a pretty awesome veteran staff for an FCS program in my opinion. A lot of good coaches. I think there are some folks on here that don’t get how tough of job it is. Position coaches are fired if the head coach gets let go even if they did a good job with their group. Very little job security. Phen has been a head coach and an offensive coordinator. That’s a hell of a guy to cover until Norcross gets here. Norcross has been an SEC line coach and people at UM aren’t excited about that? He didn’t get to that point by luck.
It's not new, the Griz have been the veteran, "old guy" staff since Haucks return. His default has been to pack the program with old guard guys.

I think it's been as beneficial as it's been crippling.

SDSU had a much higher skill level and better coaches. They were superior. The Griz not so much. As far as the rest of the games leading up to the Natty they were very close and could have gone either way. Had we had the skill level of SDSU we would have dominated like they did.

Just when I think you can not possibly say anything dumber, you go and post this. You are a true fool. You are truly delusional if you think you have any credible whatsoever here.
I am not looking for credibility. It's the off season and if it were not for me egriz would have nothing interesting to get your shorts in a knot.

Just to clear the air on Justin. I have always respected him. What I have seen of his work is better then most. If he likes it in Missoula and wants to live in the area without making the money he deserves so be it. That is usually not the case. I will say that as far as Justin goes I was disappointed in his attitude at the last presser. Following in Hauk's footsteps which is never good.

Yeah he coached in the SEC and has been on a downward trend since..

I have now caught a few days, planning to catch a few more. I think there's some really fun and exciting stuff with this 2025 Griz team.

- The "new look" WR corps is some of the fastest overall group of players I've seen, and add in some of the upperclassmen that have been putting in time and working their way up, it's a fun mix. If you saw the twitter post from Griz FB yesterday Wortham is going to be a fun guy to watch.

- Defensively I really sense an edge / attitude this year. They're chippy, they talk shit, they're confident. The new guys are blending in well it seems (for the most part). Lots of new guys in the secondary but I'm seeing some good things from them. I think some of these younger/depth safeties we had last year are showing they're far more ready for the role this year.

- The new OL coach is a real fired up guy. Only going off observation of what I saw, can't speak to how well he's connecting with kids and teaching them just yet, but damn this guy has some passion to what he does. If the OL can match his energy...

- This stable of RBs is something else.

- OL is really working to find roles in the 2 deep for everyone. I think there's going to be some surprise with who emerges starting vs depth and at what position.

- Cautiously optimistic about the D-line 2 deep.

- Geno Leonard was, is, and remains to be this fan's choice for the next #37

Have not been able to catch a practice yet, but how are have the linebackers looked? Really curious about guys like Stevenson, Oven, and Opitz. They had some occasional run with the 2's during fall ball and have been hopeful about their progression. Not all that concerned with the transfers. I think the guy from Easter Illinois will be a dude.

I’ve been seeing Grady Walker playing LB in a lot of spring ball pictures, makes me wonder how he’s progressing, I’ve heard good things. Can’t wait to see Peevy and Peck with the team this summer.
