Spring ball?

Football scoop is not an official announcement. I just caveated it. I'm sure it's as good as done, but not official. I didn't see him at practice when I was there on Monday... phen was running o linemen.
You're right that there is often that gap between known and official with hiring coaches. I know I've said it before, but people don't realize that there is a process that all state employees go through to get hired and it isn't that fast. Even a situation like this where we know exactly who the HC wants to hire (or is going to hire), there is still a process they have to go through and announcement cannot be made until it is done.

Phen working with O Line is more than ok with me and my alcoholic arm chair qb analysis. Go Griz!
I agree... he does great w the kids in a lot of ways. I toonwas excited about pawluk, but he was underwhelming last year. I had belief in him, but its not like he was a huge upgrade immediately. We're honestly lucky to have phen and his ability to fit in when need be. Had he been the long term solution we'd have been just fine.

Griz just have a pretty awesome veteran staff for an FCS program in my opinion. A lot of good coaches. I think there are some folks on here that don’t get how tough of job it is. Position coaches are fired if the head coach gets let go even if they did a good job with their group. Very little job security. Phen has been a head coach and an offensive coordinator. That’s a hell of a guy to cover until Norcross gets here. Norcross has been an SEC line coach and people at UM aren’t excited about that? He didn’t get to that point by luck.

To add to your point, he is also someone who has coached under Hauck before. Obviously Hauck knows the level of his coaching better than any of us, if we are all honest with ourselves, and he pulled the trigger on hiring him.

Do you think that a coach could come into a program and turn it around with hardly any chance to recruit ? Pawluk was stuck with whoever was recruited before him. Your statement is wrong and you not knowing that is surprising.

What did he need to "turn around"?? We played in the national championship year prior. A good coach coaches up they players he has, he basically had the same line as the year prior, and i would say he did not have marked improvement. I was looking for improvement down the stretch in the back half of the season... and feankly, I think
They got worse. Again, I was positive and optimistic on pawluk. But in reality, he did not make immediate improvement, and was only around 1 year.

As you know we got lucky being in the national championship and we did have a much more mobile QB. The Oline was what cost us that game and overall the line was was poorly coached with limited player quality. Pawluk was never given time to succeed. I suspect he did not want that time. To me he did not fit the current coaching staff.

I'm sure if you were to tell the players that they "were lucky to get to the national championship" , they'd really respect the hell out of you. Top analysis there, genius. That actually might be the most loser fan thought process I've ever seen. You should feel ashamed/embarrassed that you typed that and hit send. My analysis of you is a loser mentality permeates your everyday life. I could be wrong, but just an observation.

Justin Green has been here through multiple head coaches, speaks to his coaching.

I don't play the game of making something seem better than it is . Several fans on here are pretty good at that. I am proud that I am willing to always stand up and say what I think. You seem to fit some of the fake fan base that posts on egriz. I could be wrong but in life you seem that type also.

You must be so proud. High intelligence permeates from your words. Now scram, and take your loser mentality and go away. 😵

Justin has wanted to stay in Missoula and raise his kids in Missoula. You obviously don't know him or anything about him. He could go many places.
Hoops is dead on. I was in several classes with JG during his UM playing days, he was, and still is, just a really great down to earth and VERY well spoken dude. I also enjoyed the free drinks he provided while he was working at Stock’s 😏. He loves Missoula and the Griz are fortunate to have him.
