App St lights for sure. Once we know what games Root wants they'll probably grab a few more.

Do we have a confirmation of a Saturday night, August 31 game against App State?
It is gonna be EPIC! :)
Go Griz!

It'd be stupid if they don't make App State an evening game!
Remember what we're dealing with here. Staff have gone on record stating lights are for practice in order to prevent student athletes (or "thugs") from missing class late season when daylight is scarce and to enhance the Root Sports television viewing experience. It is my honest opinion that we still wouldn't have lights had our neighbors in Bozeman not installed them.

If they do schedule app as a night game, I bet kickoff is no later than 5 and the lights will barely be necessary. Personally I'd love to see a 7:30 kickoff!!!

My prediction is a 4PM kickoff and our Athletic Department will advertise it as an "Under the Lights" "Blackout" game, thus making us look like a bunch of dumb hicks as usual

April 18 Practice 14
April 19 FINAL SPRING SCRIMMAGE UNDER LIGHTS

If everyone asks nice, maybe the scrimmage in Ronan can be under the lights too; I'll go turn them on...

..... :| ..... or maybe not.

If App State doesn't get us scheduled under the lights, then winning ourselves into home playoffs and forcing it into the schedule is what needs to happen.

App. State game will start NO LATER than 6 p.m. M.S.T. I have also heard rumblings though that Appy is emploring UM to have it be no later than a 3 p.m. start time because of their flight back and then drive back to Boone. Of course, Appy didn't seem to mind letting the Griz get out of town late at night. But my guess would still be a 6 p.m. start which on Aug. 31 is still NOT a night game.

The game is one thing, but the post-game pep rally is quite another. Royce Engstrom will be leading the cheers until late in the evening under the Missoula stars. Free cocoa!

Will there be marshmallows with the cocoa or would that be considered too controversial and promote "thuggery"?

No. But it will be considered an NCAA violation. The NCAA just decided that people can't even eat near the players without it being "improper benefits."

As I understand it a player is entitled to smell food, but only a single sniff and less than 1 second in duration.

Wafting (a technique familiar to all those who ever had chem lab) on the other hand is entirely permissible with no occurrence or time limitations. Excess air mixed with food aroma during the wafting process dilutes food aroma concentrations below threshold levels determined to be in violation of NCAA** policies.

Reportedly the NCAA** is working on guidelines that would allow a student athlete to place a 1 ounce beverage sample in their mouths for tasting purposes only. The sample may be swished using the Jello* technique, (but only 3 times) then must be spit out into the original 1 ounce container which will be submitted to the NCAA** compliance lab where it will be tested to determine if the athlete violated the swish rule or actually swallowed beverage.

* Jello is a registered trademark and may not be used without the expressed permission of Jello Brands and/or Bill Cosby.

**The NCAA has been known to cause cancer in the states of California, Ohio, Oklahoma, Florida, Pennsylvania, Texas, Michigan and perhaps Montana.
