A Bob friend who I always bet with, and always win, told me the spread was Griz by 8.5. Can anybody confirm this? Are there other numbers out there. If 8.5 is correct then so be it.

Looks like according to this site it's Griz by 7.

There aren't a lot of sites out there that show FCS football odds, vegasinsider doesn't seem to have them so that site I linked above is the one I usually check.

Montana at Montana State 11/21/2015 02:00 PM (EST)
557 Montana -7 -120 -290 Over 70 -120
558 Montana State +7 -120 +210 Under 70 -120

I don't gamble, so don't know what all this means.

The first two numbers basically mean that the Griz are favored to win by 7 points (specifically if the game were played many times Griz would win by 7 or more points about 50% of the time). The last two numbers mean that the total points for both teams is expected to be around 70, which with the point spread means that something like a 38-31 Griz win is the most likely outcome.

The middle numbers are if you just wanted to bet on the outcome of the game. If you bet on the Griz (-290) you would pay $29, and if they won you'd get $10 (plus your $29 bet) back. If for some reason you wanted to bet on the Cats to win, if you bet $10 you'd get $21 back (plus the $10) if they won.

jodcon
spread....a great word of many connotations. For our purposes however, let's keep it between the Griz and the Bobs.

Well, you don't have to make ALL those bets....I usually just bet against the spread....or sometimes the O/U...

And if I had a way, here in San Antonio, to make a bet, I'd put about $5,000 down on the Griz to cover with the under.

30-14, 37-21, something like that.
